penalty, do now with NIL and the portal? If a team can sign less players out of HS, they will take more from the portal. If a team loses total number of scholarships, they will bring in walk-ons and make sure their NIL is increased by their tuition rate, so that it all works out as though the player was on scholarship.

None. There simply are, in effect, no rules at all.***

Probation is laughable, especially if you are an SEC team. They have been giving slaps on the wrist to SEC teams for decades. The NCAA is bought and paid for just like these Recruits and portal players.

Michigan was given three years of probation, fined and hit with recruiting limits by the NCAA on Tuesday after football coaches and staff had impermissible contact with recruits and players under then-coach Jim Harbaugh while access was restricted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

AND

Jim Harbaugh, the former Michigan football head coach who led the Wolverines to the 2023 national championship, has been suspended for one year and hit with a four-year show-cause order by the NCAA after he was found to have demonstrated both “unethical conduct” and a failure to promote “an atmosphere of compliance” as it pertains to an investigation into impermissible recruiting during a COVID-19 dead period in 2021.

So major violations and penalties that amount to nothing whatsoever.

When scholarships go up to 105, they will drop you down to 85

The whole NCAA penalty system now is meaningless. Just blow the whole thing up and start over as a minor league.

Enforcement measures are as archaic as the governing body and neither is relevant.
