If I'm TDP I put Jack on notice...

He brings me a clear plan for how he's going to put our program back on top in the state in 3 years. "On top" means that we have a winning record vs the chickens and that we outperform them in the post season. Period. No excuses. Get it done or man up and step aside.
This SHOULD have been done 3 years ago.

2 more?
I say 1. Winning the ACC is great and deserves attention but it isnt enough to over look losing to the coots 4 in a row. That is unacceptable. I wouldn't care if it were Danny Ford himself coaching this team.

Its hard to fire a coach if you go 10-2. Win your conference and go to a BCS bowl.
As much as I hate the Chickens that is just unrealistic.
We go 8-4 and lose to the Chickens that is a different story, but I dont see that happening.

record vs. our biggest rival? What is his record in bowl games? What is his record vs. teams that finish the season 7-4 or better?
Those numbers are lousy and show he isn't getting it done.
We played 14 games last year. Of the 14 games there were only 2 that after the game you could say "we played a solid game" or "that was a well played game". Both were vs. VT.

The night we won I was ecstatic and celebrated until 4am. Once the "first time in 20 years" wore off I realized we had still lost to the coots and wouldn't be able to enjoy it. Then we got sandusky'd in Miami and now I'm more excited about my basketball trophy from middle school than the ACC Championship.

I'm glad you aren't an athletic administrator. The hate for Jack Leggett is ridiculous. If Clemson were to get rid of him (and you can forget his quitting of his own accord) then it would be the laughingstock of college baseball. Jack Leggett is highly respected by the other coaches and the media and no "big name" coach would touch the Clemson job if coach Leggett were forced out.

Clemson has great facilities, fan base, and is in a pretty rich recruiting territory.
To say no top coaches would touch our program is a joke.
FYI I dont think Jack should be fired. I think he should step down on his own accord. I just wish we were a better Fundamental team under him. It drives me crazy how close to being Elite we could be. How many games have we lost due to poor fundamentals which are the little things that separate an elite team from a good one. One example of this was not being able to get down a sacrifice bunt in the first USC game.
That cost us a minimum of one run.

Clemson does NOT have "great facilities"...
Jun 5, 2012, 12:05 AM
|

Doug Kingsmore looks good and is nice for the fans, but the facilities the players use are significantly lacking compared to other schools in the area. At some places, UNC for one, players can walk out of the clubhouse and down a hall to go hit. That isn't the case at Clemson and unfortunately it won't be. Clemson doesn't have a weight room for the baseball team. It doesn't have a training room where players can get taped before games and/or practice.

Our facilities are still top 25. We are still able to recruit perfectly fine you have said so numerous times yourself.
Facility improvements have happened in the past few years with more in the works last I heard.
Baseball "A baseball players’ facility will be added to Doug Kingsmore Stadium behind the first-base side seating. This building will include a “Lobby of Legacy” where trophies and other achievements can be highlighted, a locker room, a players’ lounge, study areas and meeting space, suite and club level seating for fans, a training room, laundry and kitchen facilities and coaches’ offices. Estimated cost for the project is $5 million."

of what Clemson plans to build. The thing is, right now they're just pictures. No dirt is being moved. And when the new facilities are done, it will be better. But it still won't have a weight room for the baseball team and they still won't be able to just walk down a hall to go hit. But "top 25" facilities don't sway recruits when other schools in the area are in the top 10. North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia have all out-built Clemson in recent years. That doesn't include what's happened at LSU and Texas A&M. It's time for Clemson to move past pictures and start moving dirt.

OK St., Oregon, and a handful of other schools would dominate college athletics, but they don't. Why? Because coaching is what recruits & wins!
The single most important key to the success at UVa., UNC, & USC is their head coach.
Tanner made a serious competitor at NC State. He made USC a serious program long before they had facilities like Clemson.
Ask any athletic director in the ACC or SEC (The top 2 baseball conferences) if they could have their pick of coach from Jack, Tanner, or Martin @ FSU, not 1 would pick Jack. I'd bet money on that. I'd bet my life that if ranked by all 24 ADs in the ACC & SEC, Jack would come in 3rd.

FSU didn't go out and hire a "big name" coach from outside the program. And if FSU were looking for a new football coach (and they're not), he'd be replacing Jimbo Fisher, not Bobby Bowden. Not to mention that Bobby Bowden is nearly 30 years older than Jack Leggett.

you will find lame excuses to explain them away. Put it this way, forced retired, fired, whatever, people would be making the phones ring in Jervey like a Jerry Lewis telethon begging for the opportunity to coach at Clemson. This is a business and Clemson is a top 20 job.

Our baseball "facilities" are really pitiful. Falling apart and very small. Pretty much and old locker room, small lounge and an office. Sure there are plans for expansion but if you were a kid where would you go,somewhere that has drawings of nice facilities or somewhere that has nice facilities?

honestly bro... the coots have won back to back national championships!!!!! They arent just the best team in the state as of late, they have proved to everyone in the country that they are the best team in the ENTIRE COUNTRY 2 years running!!!!!!!!! clemson has a solid program and should be proud of how much they have accomplished over the years. I realize it sucks to have your main rival beat you, but they beat everyone!!! some fans out there need to just chill and realize that we have an excellent program and dont need to make major changes just cuz our rival has happened to beat us lately. we should always look to improve and hope to beat the coots every year, but be realistic about it, nobody has topped them recently.

The last two years USUC was not the best team in the country! Those were not even Tanner's best teams at USUC. But those two teams knew how to win! They made all the plays and let their opponents beat themselves! And they always seem to get the clutch hit when they need it! Now they EXPECT to win every time they take the field! We HOPE that we can win! There was a time when we expected to win, but I think that swagger is gone!

If anything it is worse due to being passed by UVA USC and UNC.

and I would say the primary reason is the Big12. His boss is focused on a possible move and that's probably consuming most of his time. As a result this gets addressed after next year if there isn't improvement.

You done lost your mind. Jack is one of the most SUCCESSFUL coaches in Clemson history. Be careful what you wish for. If Jack's playoff losses wernt to COOTS, then we wouldn't even be having this discussion. We all dont like our feathered friends in that h*lllhole called Columbia, and thats the only emotion supprting these silly discussions. Jack should be able to stay here as long as he wants, so long as he's getting us to the playoffs each year. Part of winning in the CWS is luck -- we just ain't had too much of it lately.

So was Tommy Bowden but he was kicked in the #### on the way out the door. And he beat the coots.

If YOU'RE going to call someone an idiot, at least use the correct "YOU'RE" and "YOUR" in YOUR sentence.

Anyone with any knowledge of our baseball program knew that we were struggling talent wise this year. We were an avearge team at best as evidenced from first series on.
It doesn't take Peter Gammons to tell you that after Sully left, TR's lack of recruiting prowess put us in this mess. Couple that with the difficulty our coaches have getting JUCO kids through admissions, and there weren't any easy fix band-aids for this past year. We had to play kids that aren't Clemson material.
Luckily, Jack hired LeCroy, and not sure if you are paying attention, but we just had 3+ guys turn down 5th rd or better money to come wear organge. Relative local guys that will be stars for us.
Ship has been righted. Patience grasshopper.

two years.
Clemson fans really do measure themselves completely on what the Gamecocks are doing. Pathetic.
