I thought this new story was about Clowney, but then I remembered he wasn't the top DE last year.

Actually it doesn't take gutts in 2014. Maybe in 1990

but certainly not now. I'm no Bible thumper but in the world we live in tolerance and every lifestyle under the sun is celebrated while the person that loves the sinner but condemns the sin is the one that is hated. That person is vilified, carved up and crapped on by the media and liberals that are intolerant of alternative positions. This guy is not the one with the gutts. Sure, he will have some people send him hate mail and call him names but at the end of the day there will be far more people fawning over him for being "brave".
I'm a Libertarian so I couldn't care less about what he does in his bedroom. I just don't think the brave ones are those that come out but the ones that stick by their religious beliefs. They face the greater backlash.

It's one thing to stick to your religious beliefs

It's a completely different thing to preach hate against others for not sharing your beliefs.
I'm not sure why so many of my fellow Christians can't separate the two.

Gays lost any sympathy from me when they decided to try to destroy the religious instituion of marriage. They don't want "equal rights", they want to force society to accept their homosexuality as being just as normal as heterosexuality. It's not, and it never will be. And thanks to their endless habit of shoving their sexual orientation down everyone's throat, when most people don't give a ####, they can go p#ss up a rope for all I care anymore.

2. The "religious institution of marriage" is already destroyed, with a 50% divorce rate and celebrities making a mockery of it, homosexuals would actually lower the divorce rate. 3. All homosexuals want is equal rights, again, reference item #1 you bigot.

Calm down mate. I'm not attacking you or anything you hold. dear.
Uno) the 50% divorce rate thing..... ever heard of second marriages? They're not uncommon. Many even make it "until death do us part".
B) You actually give credibility to what TV/ Hollywood celebrities think?? Dude, if you're that shallow minded, I can't help but wonder if you're thinking of becoming a Scientologist or something.
9) If all homosexuals wanted was equal rights under the law, they wouldn't demand to be called "Married". You can have equal rights under the law in a Civil Union. If all they want is equal rights, why isn't that good enough for them? Why are they determined to be called "married" when they couldn't tell you which was the husband and which was the wife if their lives depended on it?
I await your non bigoted reply.

Really? If it was so easy, there would be a lot of openly gay athletes. As of right now, there are only two in the Big Four sports in North America.
And spare me the "help, I'm being repressed!" act about being religious. Roughly 95% of America is religious. It's much harder to be atheist at this point in time. The only time people are called out for their religious beliefs is when they're ignorant, e.g. Phil Robertson.

Actual guts would be for some football player to come out

and say he is a KKK member.
That would have a real backlash.
The only real backlash with the ghey player will be on anyone that criticizes or says they don't like it.
But sure, he's brave b/c now some opponent might call him names and make him feel bad.

And I say we only assuming that you aren't a homosexual in an openly "manly" and testosterone filled jock culture.
The fact is, he will face slurs and be mocked.
And yes, it is better now than 20 years ago, and in my estimation that is a good thing.

Not because they are religious but because they are intolerant. Sure, during slavery or the civil rights movement they said the same thing. "Why are you persecuting me for following the bible?". It's because your beliefs restrict others freedom which makes you an #######. Believe what you want, but when your beliefs discriminate against others than you should be criticized and ostracized. I'm just glad that society is starting to realize this and condemn those who don't agree.
