when are hotel rooms typically released for football season?

7

Jan 31, 2023, 11:42 AM

We are new to Clemson since our son was just accepted for next year. We are excited to become part of the Tiger Family! I see the football games were released yesterday but most of the hotels have not opened up booking yet. When do places like Lakeside Lodge or Hampton Inn or the Abernathy typically open up the booking? I figure we need to be on top of it to get a room.

Also, when do single tickets for the football games typically go on sale?

Thank you,
J.R. Waits

the hotels are not allowing booking for football dates yet. My question is how far in advance of the game do the hotels open up booking?

Huh? You think the local hoteliers aren't aware of the football schedule and are already pricing rooms accordingly?

I understood the question; unfortunately I don't know the answer. I was just addressing the poster above for calling this a "terrible post" and insinuating that your action was going to affect prices of rooms.

Now that the schedule has been released, the hotels will start taking reservations pretty quickly. I would just keep checking with them. Good luck. Lakeside Lodge looks like a great place. We’ve been there a couple of times to eat/drink. It will be very expensive on game weekends as will the Abernathy.

I would look at staying in Greenville. It’s a great city and way more hotel options.

Good luck with prices staying in clemson. I think seneca and Anderson slightly cheaper option. But Greenville is fine just tad further drive.

May have TD’ed your post. Apologies. Was giving it a TU. May have but it says 67 and I’m not sure why it would have been TD’ed on purpose.

"Coot" is another word for gamecock.

But, dont' take it personally. Every new poster has to go through the hazing of being called a coot. After the "rite of passage" you'll find this is generally a great board. Just learn to ignore some of the posts.

Welcome to Clemson! I am a long time season ticket holder and have been able to stay in Clemson for only one game. I usually book at Marriott.com and booked my rooms for FSU and ND last night. Clemson area Marriotts are sold out for FSU and ND, with downtown Greenville for those two games costing two arms and a leg. I booked Greenville area but not downtown. Will look at other games later today. Good luck and Go Tigers!

I work at a hotel in Clemson, actually put my 2 weeks in today. For a conference or big game you’re going to be looking at $700 a night minimum usually with a 2 night minimum and most places have a 45 or 60 day cancellation policy. After that period has elapsed the stay is charged in full and there are no refunds. Be friendly on the phone with the desk agents who pick up the phone when you call to book. They can’t help the prices property managers and owners charge for these rooms and don’t see any of that $700 a night honestly. Cursing them and trying to guilt them into giving you a cheaper rate isn’t going to do anything and they can’t change anything. Most of them are just students working or people in between jobs who haven’t moved on to something better yet. Being friendly is gonna get you a lot further. It’s not gonna change the price but it may get you a free upgrade to a suite.

Thank you. I am trying to figure out when the hotels typically start taking bookings for football season? Most Clemson hotels are not taking reservations for any rooms in the fall yet. The football schedule was announced yesterday. Do hotels open up booking soon after the schedule is released? or do they wait until a certain number of months before the game? or is it just random?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It generally takes a few days for hotel managers and

1

management companies to run the numbers on the game dates and set rates. Some are probably already on top of it by now and the rest should start opening up at any time. If you have your heart set on a few it wouldn't hurt contacting them directly to inquire.

Re: when are hotel rooms typically released for football season?

Jan 31, 2023, 6:57 PM [ in reply to Re: when are hotel rooms typically released for football season? ]

Typically our rates are available out to 6 months but football games and special events like graduation, etc they try to get up and ready for sell as soon as possible. Notre Dame fans have been calling for months since they get their schedule out pretty quick and some have managed to get some bookings through online which I have no idea how they pulled that.
It just takes time to get the rates published in the specific hotel’s operating systems as well as jumping through all the hoops it takes to get your rates published through all the 3rd party sites like hotels.com Expedia and so on.
Try to avoid them to be honest, you’re gonna get your best service by signing up for the free rewards program pretty much each hotel offers and booking directly through the hotels website with your rewards or calling central reservations or the hotel itself.
You’re gonna get the best hotel room for your money if you’re willing to stay in Greenville. If you want to book ASAP be sure to purchase travel insurance. I’m serious about that, that’s the best bit of advice I can give for booking hotels for stuff like this so you’re not out $1400+ if something happens. I don’t always agree with the no refund, no cancellation policies but you won’t believe how many people had deaths in the family or how many people come down with Covid after we lose a ball game or don’t look like a National Championship caliber team for a week or two.
Another option, if you’re a gambling man would be to wait until the day or or couple days before and you’ll find some places for a fraction of the original price but like I said. That’s a huge gamble and you could end up SOL with no room to be found as well.
If there’s anything I can help anyone with as far as referrals to the best hotels as long as the ones to avoid I’d be happy to answer as many questions as I can. Like I said previously, I can’t do nothing about the rates anywhere, but I’d be more than happy to give you the information I have about where to stay, and where to be wary of if you want to PM me. Don’t let me be the final factor in where you stay.
Also, don’t put much weight into bad reviews people post. Most of these people are just Karens trying to get money off their stay or partially refunded. Instead look at the frequency of good reviews and what people have to stay in there. That’s gonna give you a better feel for a particular property in my experience.

Russian roulette. If you find a room, price will be very high.

They'll open up soon now that the schedule was released.

Brace yourself for astronomical rates, minimum night stays, and huge cancellation windows.

I doubt you'll find a Clemson hotel room.

I suggest that you book something in Greenville, then watch the Clemson hotel bookings. If you can find something in Clemson, then cancel your Greenville reservation.

But be aware - I have had the Clemson Holiday Inn deny my reservation when I showed up due to overbooking.

We did get rooms for the Fl St and UNC weekends for $350/night at Comfort Inn in Clemson. It's probably junky but it's close! We thought Fl St would be Parent's Weekend but after researching the Fl Atlantic game the weekend before will probably be Parent's Weekend. I know I know, it's best to visit on slower weekends but Tiger Mom wants to be there for Parent's Weekend. I'm keeping an eye on the hotels and ready to pounce when they become available. Thank you everyone for the replies.
