What's the word on LaSamuel Davis?

Jan 15, 2016, 7:31 PM

I thought he could be a really good one if he put on some weight.

He's no more than 205 pounds currently and has skinny legs.

Will need at least a year, like two before he can be somewhat effective....kinda like Yeargin

Might be great on special teams?**

He's tried and just not happening, question is he fast enough to be a safety? Another Kearse but more dedicated to play the entire season.

He hasn't been at Clemson, with our nutrition staff and the food he'll have available.

Trust me, he'll put some weight on.

Davis is known for his work ethic and coachability, which is why the staff hung with him even though he's a skinny 205-pound former 3-star end who was having problems academically and they had all the opportunity in the world to drop him...well, that, and his frame, and his lightning first step. If Davis isn't another Rod Whipple - another former Clemson DE who was similar, coming out of high school, and never could put on the weight - then he's definitely worth the patience. Did I mention his first step reminds people of Ricky Sapp?

He's a rush end all the way.
