Way-too-early Top 25 CFB rankings released for 2019

Clemson vs. Alabama IV hasn't even started yet, and we already have one of the first way-too-early preseason rankings for 2019. Athlon Sports has Alabama ranked Read Update »

Just don't make us #1 until we earn it....we need goals***

Unless we win it this year...we should start at #1, Bama

UVA did

LOL

Ohio State still didn't make Top 4

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would they....

Jan 3, 2019, 12:13 PM [ in reply to U5C didnt make it, nor did they make the "Other 15 to Watch" ]

u5s is going to suck for the foreseeable future now that they finally have to start playing the better teams out of the $EC West again.

With likely losses to Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama and Clemson and with toss-up games against Tennessee, Kentucky, Mizzou and UNCheat, they are already staring straight down the barrel of a 7-5 record at best.

They're losing 6 starters on both sides of the ball from a team that is not very good anyway, so I think they struggle to go 6 - 6.

5 - 7 may be more realistic.

Re: Why would they....

Jan 3, 2019, 12:46 PM

Agreed. Hoping for 4-8.

KY and Mizzou have a lot of talent to replace, Tenn and UNCheat still rebuilding.

I would love for them to lose all 4 tossup and go 3-9--only the flip side of 2017 when they won all 6 of their toss ups and went 9-3 to become the fastest cycling in team in history.

I think it was Sapakoff who predicted that they would go 7-5 in 2018 but be better than their 9-3 team of 2017. Substituting Akron for Marshall ensured the first half of the statement would be true; I'll leave the second to fans who are less biased than me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Au contraire, mon ami. USC is in the other 15

Jan 3, 2019, 2:49 PM [ in reply to U5C didnt make it, nor did they make the "Other 15 to Watch" ]

Oh, wait. I see what you did there. U5C. U-five-C. I like it! No, the #### lovers aren't in the other 15. The real USC is.

Seemed like a pretty easy article to write. Same teams they pick every year. If I read the whole list I’m sure I’d find Tennessee somewhere in mid 20s.

Bogus

Where’s the Coots?

Somebody has to be in the top 10. It's not like there are a

bunch of strong candidates behind them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh let me guess

Jan 3, 2019, 12:14 PM

1) Bama
2) Clemson
3) who the hell cares, but probably Georgia

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Georgia will give us a repeat of 2018 in 2019...

Jan 3, 2019, 12:18 PM

They'll cakewalk through the $EC Least but lose to a team from the $EC West (probably Texas A&M), get beat by BAMA in the $EC Championship game for a second loss, and get left out of the CFP again.

then cry and say they belonged...

Jan 3, 2019, 12:31 PM

then lose the bowl game and claim they didnt want to be there

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Whats most interesting is two of the teams

Jan 3, 2019, 12:24 PM

have former Clemson QB's- Northwestern at #24 w/ Hunter Johnson and Missouri at #20 w/ Kelly Bryant.

Go Tigers! Should claim WRU and QBU

Re: Whats most interesting is two of the teams

And DEU.

Pretty soon we'll be DBU.

Take awhile to get back to the 80's when we were also LBU.

Jan 3, 2019, 12:36 PM

They just haven't learned nothing about UGA, it would have been the same if they would have put the coots in at #4 bc they just have to get as many SEC teams in the top 10 as possible , especially if it's the fantasy top 25!!!

Re: TNET: Way-too-early Top 25 CFB rankings released for 2019

Jan 3, 2019, 12:44 PM

I have no use for this junk. Wait till you see who stays and goes before you rank. Even then teams need a few games to see who has it and who struggles. Just mindless sports blather that is meaningless.

Re: TNET: Way-too-early Top 25 CFB rankings released for 2019

Jan 3, 2019, 12:56 PM

Agree — but that’s kind of the summary of the blathered messages — the recruiting classes at the top are so good, so predictable and so routine, it does not matter who stays and who returns, the eggheads will not tangibly change the pre-season rankings. Now if Clemson wins, 1-2 could change.

favored in al 2019 games

Jan 3, 2019, 12:50 PM

That’s a great start - let’s go ahead and win one for and with the power rangers this year! Go Tigers!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

2 SEC teams in top 3. Who didn' know DAT?

Jan 3, 2019, 1:20 PM

And, I bet Bama will STILL be rated preseason #1 next year even AFTER we smoke them Monday night!

Pundits just can't help it, they have a lifetime supply of the Alabama / SEC Koolaid.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

GA with 3 losses. Why wouldn't they be ranked #3? SMH.***
