is not good even at this mid juncture imho (due to D allowing 14 quick points late in 4th at Tally) since it gives voters & CFP members something negative to think about concerning Clemson meriting a top 4 placement now or later.
The name of the game these days is to scorch the opponent and flex the muscles.
I know it's still early and couple teams above us will get beat, BUT.

I think that the win margin and closer games against weak opponents (Furman,GT,etc.) hurt the ranking, all should be fine as long as they keep winning.

Instead of worrying about the polls at this point, concern yourself with Syracuse and then ND and so on. There is a long way to go for EVERYBODY.

Georgia or Tennessee is going to lose a game or look sloppy, same with Michigan and o310 state all we have to do is win out and keep getting better and we go to the prom. We have the best tight ends, great running backs, good ol. and wrs that are starting to hit stride,,,dj is managing his game without many errors and the d is certainly adequate. Undefeated ccc is a great draw in any playoff scenario...don't worry about the polls just yet...they all own more sports writers than we do!

Instead of worrying about the polls at this point, concern yourself with Syracuse and then ND and so on. There is a long way to go for EVERYBODY.
Or as a fan just enjoy the ride and forget about things out of our control. Some day we will be back to faxing crappy bowls for an invite and long for these days where out concern if if we are 4th or 6th in the polls

I think Michigan’s destruction of undefeated Penn State had more to do with them passing us than the final score of the FSU game.

The polls had us at 4 or 5, then the first CFP rankings came out with Clemson at #1. Not worried

I mean I realize you're probably attempting to strike up conversation and create some dialogue, but.
When was the last time Clemson (or any other team) got left out of the 4-team CFP because they didn't win a game by enough points in October?
If Clemson takes care of business it won't matter.
(If December rolls around and there are 4 undefeated BIG/SEC teams then it might be a problem. Until that impossibility presents itself I ain't losing any sleep)

Scoring differential is not part of the CFP poll, and neither are the Coaches Poll or AP Poll.
Dabo has NEVER played the game trying to squash a beaten team just to make the score "more impressive", and he won't start now.
There's a lotta season left, plus teams above us have to play each other. We can't lose and expect to get in, but just win and we're in.
Please stop the gnashing of teeth over style points.

Being undefeated and moving DOWN the rankings is not a good sign. I'd rather be on top looking down at a 3-4 seed in game one of the CFP instead of facing the most difficult road against a team that everyone considers to be better than we are.

A - we haven't moved up or down in the CFP poll. It doesn't exist yet.
B - there have been 8 CFP seasons. Nattys by seed:
1 seed - two
2 seed - three
3 seed - one
4 seed - two
Historically (granted, a short history), you are as likely to win it all as a 4 as you are as a 1.

That doesn't change the fact that moving DOWN in national rankings at ANY time is not good. There may be nothing that Clemson could do about it regardless of how many points we score on our opponents, but there's no doubt that being held in higher esteem is better.
"Just win and we're in" may get is in the CFP, and I know that the top seed doesn't always translate into a victory, but from your chart the 1-2 seeds have won it all 5 out of eight. THAT'S where I want to be.

won’t be a major accomplishment in and of itself this season?
I know “Best is Standard” is the popular (although misinterpreted) catch phrase and our fans have begun think it means winning the whole thing every year or we have screwed up.
But, after the struggles last year, even the most jaded Clemson fan must admit that the goal this year is to be back in the field of four at the end of the season.
We can certainly aspire to being national champs this year and it could actually happen if we continue to improve incrementally each week, but this particular season the term “Best” might mean just getting our seat back at the cool kids table.

The polls are moved for projected matchups to drive ratings ($$$$).... its all about money. OSU plays Mich, UT plays UGA... we keep winning, we will be in the playoff.
Every year this talk happens... Clemson is the only team that will keep Clemson out of the playoff.

The committee will see the value of the wins, undefeated season, health of players, and
Dabo knows what he’s doing. He has rarely scorched the other team. Two he actually destroyed come to mind: Wake (which he really couldn’t stop) and Cuse…that game was impressive.
Win and we’re in!
