What we learned from Jarrett

Jul 15, 2019, 10:54 PM

Is that if you take this:
2011 recruit Grady Jarrett, Rockdale County (Conyers, GA)
6-0 / 282, 3 star by one, two star by most services, rating of 0.8247
Not ranked nationally, Ranked #84 DT in nation
Ranked #90 recruit in Georgia;

Put him into the current best program for four years of college football (Clemson, of course);

He gets drafted in the 5th round of the NFL draft. After a few years, he gets a four year contract worth $68 million! What part of this formula do the new recruits not understand? Oh! Wait! Looking at the current rankings of recruits, it looks like many of the smart ones are figuring this out!

Great time to be a Tiger!

Of course that class had several that were drafted, including the likes of Sammy Watkins and Martavis Bryant, but who else was in that class that mimicked what Jarrett did? How about BJ Goodson and Adam Humphries!!!! Other 3 star members of that 2011 class that are still on NFL rosters include Isaiah Battle, Kevin Dodd, and DeShawn Williams!! DABO really does recognize good talent without the ratings system!

It pays to be really athletic and good at football?

That’s what I took from his new contract

For most getting that 2nd NFL contract takes hard work and the ability to stay healthy (or at least play well while dealing with nagging injuries). Also, it doesn’t hurt to be drafted by a team that understands a player’s strengths and is a good fit for the system.
