What was the Most disappointing Reality that ruined your season?

Dec 31, 2022, 9:39 AM

For me it was losing to USuCk. All other realities withstanding; A 1 loss Power 5 champ this year would’ve landed us at #3. We play Michigan today and no matter the outcome I would’ve called it a successful season.

for Clemson during the non-CFP dynasty era

The reality is ——- The Tigers place to much emphasis on recruiting athletic skill position players and forget that games are won ... and lost up front, And that my Tiger fans .... is a FACT.

Coaches not willing to be honest about QB play (No way DJ was beating out Cade in practice).

Terrible hires by Dabo on both sides of the ball at coordinator.

Dabo acting like everything is fine and nothing needs to change.

Loss to SC.

When EJ Williams dropped that pass late in the fourth against the coots and Drew jogged onto the field to replace him.

A Tie between: 1) Dabo continuing to trot out DJ with Subpar QB play and rarely getting Cade meaningful Snaps with the #1 Offense. Obviously, this delayed his Development. AND 2) The Lack of a Killer Instinct in this Team!!! They never played a complete game all year and let Teams get back into games when they had Big Leads! Additionally, to Tie into the lack of Killer Instinct, is a Lack of Physicality by this Team. Obviously, while there are some Tough individuals, this Team as a whole does not exude the Toughness and Physicality of its predecessors!!!!!

For me it was when I didn't see one play run with the QB under center in the spring game or any real use of two back sets to run power.

Coot loss. Always a coot loss. Always will be a coot loss.

Dec 31, 2022, 10:02 AM

The coot loss was a reflection of the entire season. Sticking with DJ, defense giving up a lead and letting the other team back in, abandoning running game.

For me it was that this defensive line wasn’t dominant

Dec 31, 2022, 10:03 AM

When I saw the recruiting ratings of this lineup 3 years ago I earmarked this season as the year we would dominate defensively and it just didn’t happen. Also earmarked this as DJs final season before the NFL and figured this would be his Heisman year. None of those met expectations and it boggles the mind that it was skin of your teeth conference championship and 3 bad losses type of season.

But the defensive line was good but just wasn’t special like I thought it would be.

Losing is not a reality. Realizing we do not have the talent we did from 15-19 is a reality.

season ruined.

I was doubtful, yet hopeful, that we would return to the CFP; however, I just wasn't convinced due to several factors. That we won all but three games was my greatest surprise.

The gaslighting from the HC on DJ

Dec 31, 2022, 10:32 AM

And then the pathetic excuses to justify the gaslighting from others on this board. “You don’t go to practice”. Blah blah.

I wouldn’t say the season was ruined, but…

Dec 31, 2022, 11:50 AM

I was not thrilled with the defensive coordinator hire, and I do not understand the fact we have no viable wide receivers on the roster. These factors have led to losing to the gamecocks and Tennessee. The Notre Dame loss was on Streeter
