What Must Improve

After re-watching the game again (soul crushing) I have taken the liberty of ranking what must improve on the offensive side of the ball in order for Clemson to win out and possibly compete in with the big boys in the CFP/NY6 Bowl.

1.) Offensive Line Play
2.) Offensive Play Calling/creative scheming if offensive line play continues to be subpar
3.) Cohesiveness of DJ with WR's
4.) TE involvement in passing game
5.) DJU's pocket presence/awareness; especially if offensive line continues to be absolutely horrendous

Thoughts?

Backs need to pick up their blocks and release when no one is coming.

Need to involve tight ends in blocking first, then a release if opposing line backers do not blitz.Watch some of Alabama game TE lined up in backfield and was the primary block on several huge run gains. On several plays an offensive tackle wearing TE number outside right tackle. Not for every play but at least enough to open some lanes to give backs somewhere to run. JMO No need for four and five receivers downfield if they cannot run or wait for an open receiver. DJ will adapt and will be fine. Just a bad game top to bottom.

TE were in the game plenty, their needs to be completions to the TE's, we did not have many of those.

#5 ... He needs to feel pressure better... go back and watch the o-line again, I wish I knew what the responsibilities were for each position and who was supposed to help who, only the players and coaches know that... when they bring 5 or 6 who picks up who and what is the backs job?

Observation...

Of the 22 first half offensive plays UGA:

Rushed 3 - 1
Rushed 4 - 16
Rushed 5 - 4
Rushed 6 - 1 (first play of the game)

second play of the game DJ hits the D-lineman in the head with the pass, to wide open TE...

was it play calling or execution? More than a few times DJ and the receivers were in different zip codes...

We did not have a balanced attack (play calling) and that is on Elliot... it let UGA tee off and the linebackers to drop into coverage faster...

Send a text or fax a copy to Dabo Swinney at the Clemson Athletic Dept. Maybe he can incorporate some ,or all of your ideas into a wining formula against S.C. State.
