looking forward to total government sponsored (socialized medicine) Medicare For All? You know, the system that will bring to America wait times to see your doctor that will be months (even for routine care) and will result in worse outcomes (due to delayed treatment).
Biden is full bore for MFA (as well as free college and student loan forgiveness), in case you haven't been paying attention. Just look at the wait times and outcomes in Canada, the UK (or Scandinavia, France or any other European country) if you want a preview of the medical disaster potentially coming at you.
I had a taste of the British NHS in 2012 (4 months under their care) when I donated a kidney (5/25/12) to a close friend at Coventry Univ.Hospital. The care was beyond sub-standard and an embarrassment to the UK. My recipient died within two months as a result of terrible care and protocols. Nothing close to what happened would EVER happen in America. Had we had any idea how bad the care would be we would have brought her to the USA, and she would be alive today!

actually it would take a lot less time to see your physician because you would not be sitting in the lobby filling out paper work for 15 minutes, then waiting another 30 while they process your insurance info. Having 1/2 a dozen major insurers with different laws in 50 states in is a fugging paperwork nightmare for healthcare providers, not to mention the entire industry of medical billing whose employees are relentless, sociopathic telemarketers that spend their entire day shaking people down for money. There are entire office parks full of these people because of the 20 million or so uninsured, occasionally some of them get sick and can not afford to pay 80k out of pocket when they land in the hospital for a week.
But we all end up paying one way or another, just there is a cheaper and more efficient way to do it this, and it does not involve insurance companies. They just get in between you and your doctor and skim 20% off the top.

You know there’s paperwork for Medicare too right? That part doesn’t change.
Then there are 2 major flaws...
1) you think the govt can institute an efficient program of any kind- name one.
2) you think salaried physicians would bust their arses to get to more patients than their quota demanded to keep their license.
Also the three entities between you and your healthcare are currently the heavily lobbied insurance companies and drug companies, and the over-regulated hospitals.
Furthermore, anyone in the healthcare industry knows that govt hospitals are charged the highest prices for any products... efficiency.

You couldn't be more wrong. When the government controls EVERY aspect of the health care system, as happens in every country in the world except Switzerland, it's socialized care.
Bottom line, call it what you want but your wait times will skyrocket and there will be more morbidity and considerably worse outcomes.
For example, I have a good friend who is a cardiologist in Toronto. At the Toronto General hospital (teaching hospital), patients for cardiac bypass surgery typically wait an average of 18 months longer for their surgery than the same patient in the USA with the same clinical setting. That means a significant number of patients will die waiting for their surgery.
In the UK, to this day, if a patient is referred by a PMD to a specialist, that patient has to be seen (by law!) within 18 weeks. That's 4 1/2 months!! Just imagine how bad those medical outcomes will be.
The LAST thing we want is MFA in America.

What longer wait times for surgery actually mean for the self-interested surgeon is that you will be performing far fewer surgeries. You wouldn't be able to stack 'em up ten at a time in order to pay off the boat a few years earlier.
In our system, it's not really about quality health care delivery, it's really just about profits. Prove me wrong.

you do not get it carlsbad, cutting through all the red tape and having an integrated healthcare system where your different specialists proactively communicate, being they are on the same team now, would just gum up the system and create worse outcomes.
a physician would know this.

The AMA and state medical boards control supply of medical delivery by limiting the licenses to practice. They should control standards, but not the supply of talent.
It stands to reason that if we trained more people, we’d have the ability to deliver more care and you’d get surgery in less time.. Why isn’t that happening?
Where is the completion? Where is the price discovery? This has never been a free market, despite what people like this clown would have you believe,

Wrong. Anybody that applies for a medical license in ANY state will receive one very quickly. No delays are built in, conspiracy theorists. Medical boards are extremely ethical and follow the rules carefully. Otherwise they would be sued to the hilt. The AMA has zero to do with state licences.
We have enough MDs in this country, more than enough. The problem is mal-distribution. I favor scholarships for medical students who agree to practice in health-manpower shortage areas for X amount of years. Right now most of those areas are served by foreign trained doctors who agree to practice there as for being licensed in the US. It works fairly well.
I practiced in a shortage area for two years (before residency training), serving blacks, Hispanics and poor whites. A very positive experience for sure and it prepared me with a vast clinical background that serves me to this day. I've also been to Haiti under the auspices of Partners In health, lead by the famous doctor fro Harvard, Paul Farmer, MD.
One thing to remember about US health care: the poorest person in your community can show up at X ER and will be treated (by law) as a billionaire would. If the person needs bypass surgery it will happen within days. In Canada and any other country, the wait we be weeks to months!
We have the best HC system in the world. Nobody is close.

You are just wrong. I know a man with Aids. He had no control of his bowels and he was homeless. Aged 25. Hospitals would treat his immediate needs and send him on his way because he has no insurance.
But of course, you already knew this. Hospitals are required by law to see emergencies, not take over the complete care of indigents. Hospitals cannot turn someone away with a medical need. But they are not required to retain and treat the patient till the end of his illness.

There are multiple entities that could direct him to a doctor that could oversee his treatment and I'll bet he was referred to one. YOU know that and I do too. The GHS spends multiple millions each year on free medical care. Our practice gives away over $500K in free care each year. I don't know a doctor that doesn't give away thousands of dollars each year in the form of free care.
BTW, our best collection rate ever was 36%. Therefore, 64% of what we did was gratis for that year. The other years were even worse. How would you like to have your salary cut by 64%?

You may have to wait 10 weeks to have an operation by the surgeon you saw last. I 100% guarantee that you can tmail me and if you have an indication that is worthy of surgery, you can have surgery next week.

Did my residency at UVa. I Was a flight surgeon during the V. Nam war. Also worked in a health manpower shortage area for two years--doing my part to help those without a doctor. Also worked in Haiti (Cange and Mirabelia (?sp.). And you?
