What is your idea how to attack the 3-5-3 defense?

Dec 28, 2021, 9:11 PM

I say run the freaking ball and then run it some more. The 3-5-3 defense is a big play preventing defense and serves them well in the big 12 conference. But I say you can pound the ball and move the chains 5-7 yards a clip. It will set up an occasional pass. But no more than 20 passes total for the game. You will wear them down with their lack of depth. Second half you own them.

Agree... Run until it morphs into an 8-3 and then bomb the Hades out of them.

I always hated blocking the 3-3-5 stack

The backers stacked on top of the DL can make assignments tricky for the OL.

Zone running plays. Let’s get in a 3 point stance and take it to the defense for 4 quarters. We need to re tool our RPO. I can’t stand it. We’re horrible at running out of it anyway.

Passing wise.. we haven’t been consistent all year

I rewatched the South Carolina game, and saw a lot we can do from the 2-back set with Pace and Shipley.

We should have a lot of room to pass in the middle of the field if we can get the run game going. ISU will have to cheat down to stop the run.

I mean we could throw it 47 times and we’re only gonna complete 12-13 of them anyways. I’m fine if they run it on every down…

Inside zone runs w double teams. Usually 1-2 of the backers blitz and can be confusing for the OL. When they only rush 3 Seam routes can be open..but we haven’t been throwing in the middle of the field for a while. Shipley and Pace could have big days. DJ could also have some big runs. You have to stay patient but I’m excited to see Streeter call plays

Find the weak link in the linebackers and pick on them.

Kinda like when QB’s would wait to see who Tanner Muse was covering 1 on 1. Passes always went to that WR

Bombs away! Not much help over the top and put enough WRs on the field to get WR and LB matchups. The run could be iffy with a natural 8 in the box. That's why enough WRs need to be on the field to spread the D out more. It won't matter unless the passes are completed though.
