Loved that franchise too. Freddy and his one liners. “Welcome to primetime, b!ch!”

The Woman in Black

Oct 31, 2022, 4:06 PM

Went to the mountains the day after watching this movie and stayed in a "rustic" cabin. I had to sleep in the back room by myself with the door open because it was too hot. Only a locked screen door to the outside. I could have sworn she was in the room with me.

That’s tough. Love The Evil Dead franchise. I kinda like a mix of horror and comedy cause I’ve never seen any movie that was truly scary. Shaun Of the Dead and Tucker and Dale vs Evil are pretty good too.

Is Shaun of the Dead really horror? I loved that movie though.

Well, horror/comedy as is Tucker and Dale. Maybe gore/comedy?

Halloween was sinister. The music, those neighborhood scenes and stalking, great characters - it was a legit spine tingler. At an impressionable age for that one so it set the bar pretty high.

from the last few decades? THe 70's best is Exorcist, the 80's I would go with the Shining although there are a few others that are contenders, the 90's is Silence of the Lambs, the early 2000's 28 Days Later, 2010-2020 - The Witch or Heredity (toss up),

No movie scared me as much in the theater as The Exorcist.

Oct 31, 2022, 7:07 PM

No movie scared the row of six or seven wimmins in front of me in the theater as much as Jaws. When that head fell out of that boat, they all screamed, got up, and left, and never came back!

Re: No movie scared me as much in the theater as The Exorcist.

I was maybe 8 when I finally saw it late in its run and that head coming out of the hole in the boat was the most shocking, and brain etched, movie moment I can recall to date. I could describe that scene and details to a sketch artist today and it would turn out pretty close.

Original IT miniseries.

One of my friends had that on VHS and we watched it way too early in life. I was terrified of Pennywise.

On a side note; if you ever commit to reading the book, be prepared for some off the rails stuff that wasn’t in the movies.

Some great ones mentioned above. I’m going to have to go with Event Horizon. Great sci-fi horror that gave me nightmares for weeks as a kid. Exorcist is obviously the goat, but I thought The Ring was pretty scary as well… something about unnatural moving little girls scares the bejesus out of me.
