What is everyone's thoughts on the wicker baskets on top

of the flag sticks at the Open this year? I know it is tradition for tat course, but I think it is retarded, personally.

It's definitely different. It actually makes it more interesting and difficult in my opinion. Players often look for the wind direction based on the flags and now they can't. Should be fun to watch. Hopefully the weather eases up there. The bunkers were ponds due to all the rain. Would hate to work on the grounds crew there. Lol.

The grounds crew worked half of the day to pump out the water from the bunker on 11 and add "three tons" of new sand. About an hour after they finished the skys opened again. I imagine they had to start all over.

Oh, that's what those red things are? That's dumb.

I'd need it to blink or something. I need one of my buds to point out the flag for me about half the time as is. I'm all like, "Where's the flag? Did someone forget to put it back?"

I'm blind. :(

The baskets certainly take adjusting. It appears Merion has pumped a lot of $$$$ into course to get on the good side of the USGA since the last time the Open was there. The holes look extremely difficult to me, but a putt putt course is hard for me. Curious to see how Glover/Stanley and Byrd play this weekend.

They have always been there. It's their tradition and they didn't change it for the Open. It's kind of like the hill as the warning track, like it or not it's there and it's not going anywhere.
