What incentive will there be for Bama/UGA to win the SECCG?

Oct 4, 2021, 5:54 PM

Assuming of course that Alabama and Georgia cruise into the SECCG undefeated, what incentive will either have for winning that game? The loser will still be in the CFP.

There is no clear Number 3 team that these two would want to avoid playing in the CFP.

They could have a game with just their new recruits & freshman players against each other and call it for the NCAA FOOTBALL RECRUITING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Settle it on the field.

By the end of the season there will be a clear sense of who is 3 and who is 4.

Example: B1G team runs table. (Iowa, Penn State, Michigan) With all due respect, Bama would rather play Cincy (assuming they are #4) than either of those three.

Is this a serious question?

What incentive will there be to win your conference championship game?

What has college football come too?

Well they did win it in 2017. The year Tua came off of the bench in the natty to beat the butt sniffers Jawja won the SEC because Auburn lucked up and beat Bama to win the west.

The incentive is to...um...win their conference.

You honestly don’t think Georgia doesn’t want a shot at Alabama? Be number 1 going into the CFP? If not then you don’t understand the competitive human nature.

Both Kirby and Sabans contracts have bonuses for winning the conference championship games.

Saban also hates losing.

Winner would presumably be top seed and pick their venue.

I can’t remember off the top of my head, are the CFP semis this year in similar sites (ie Atlanta & New Orleans)?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Edit: CFP Semis - Cotton & Orange

Oct 5, 2021, 10:06 AM

That one may work out the same either way, Georgia wins & picks Orange, Bama wins & picks Cotton?

It's not completely the NFL yet. The SEC championship and

Just the opportunity to join the 15-0 club that has evaded each of them for soooo long.

Winning the SEC and beating Bama/UGA seems

Oct 5, 2021, 12:05 PM

like a pretty good incentive. Winner also dodges the 2/3 game which is sometimes pretty meaningful.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The incentive is to win a game and not lose?

Oct 5, 2021, 12:25 PM

Or you know also a conference championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The incentive is the the winner will get the #1 seed in that

scenario for the Playoffs. And, the loser will be either the 2 or 3 seed, because the CFP would not want an immediate rematch of a game just played. I would think that whoever winds up #4 this yearwill not be in the class of either Bama or Georgia, so the #1 seed is DEFINITELY worth playing for.

That may be the dumbest statement I have ever seen on TigerNet. Sad you have never played a sport.
