Just tried to say out load what the scoring should be for the relay and run down out with Taylor at home. Got it wrong twice while Mahoney tried to correct him and he continued to score it wrong LOL
I don’t know what’s worse. Listening to him try to make sense of a play or listen to him talk about how he hopes the games go quick and get the series over

I’m sure he’s a great guy but he’s terrible at announcing.
He isnt afraid to let it be known that he doesn’t want to be at the ballpark always talking about how he hopes the game will hurry up. Wish they would let him be a secretary for Dabo instead of talking about football or baseball

Would have been so cool if he could have had the opportunity to announce the Renfrow score. I'm pretty darn sure he was jumping around in heaven that night. Even the 14 coots who have made it so far had to enjoy that night 🙂

well almost anyone on the planet would seem bad after Jim.
I couldn't stand listening to Jim Phillips announce the game.
He never knew the down and distance. He was often wrong about the name of the running back. He didn't keep up with subs coming in. He would tell you it was a 16-yard gain, but when the ball was placed, it was an 11-yard gain. On 2nd and 8 he would say the RB had a5-yd gain, and it was then 3rd and 5. Crazy.
Maybe he was okay if you listened to him while watching the game on TV. But listening to him, without TV, was a state of constant confusion.
I couldn't stand him as an announcer.

I met him briefly in 2017 when the wife and I drove to the campus after stopping in G'vile. Hadn't been there in a few years so toured around a bit and ended up at Jervey. I wanted to see if the Athletic Dept had any baseball brochures. Went in the building and ran into him in a hallway. After my introduction and asking about the possibility of getting a copy, he went to another room, searched around some and produced one. Then looked at another spot or two and found a baseball poster. Struck me as a very amiable person and did spend some time to be helpful. Haven't listened to radio broadcasts.

He might not be the best announcer in the world but He is a good guy and loves Clemson. He gives his phone number out at the Prowl and Growl Events and said call Him if you need help with anything Clemson related. I've call him about 2 different things and He got me an answer on both. While I do support Clemson I'm not a high dollar Booster but He sure helped me.

He loves Clemson and that's a dang good start. If you don't enjoy listening to him , then you always turn the volume down and watch it on the radio.

I heard him have a Captain Obvious moment during the first game with BC. He made the profound statement that if you hit the ball, it's going somewhere.
