Rand Paul single handedly holds up US aid for Ukraine.

May 13, 2022, 10:07 AM

What a guy. Does this make lot of Republicans happy?

$40 billion? Are you nutz?

May 13, 2022, 10:10 AM

I would hold it up, too!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thus my question - Does this make Republicans happy?

May 13, 2022, 10:13 AM

The answer is yes. I knew that Donald Trump Jr. and the MAGAverse had been putting the word out to not vote for this.

The Putin pull is stronger in the MAGAverse than the GOP wants to admit.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No.

May 13, 2022, 10:42 AM

It's pisssing away a crap ton of our money to fund somebody else's war.

according to the Googles, Russia spent 65.9 billion current U.S. dollars in military spending last year. Given that scale, does it seem reasonable for the US to approve $40 billion to the Ukraine???

Where would that money come from?

What effects would it have on our country? on inflation?

I hope Putin meets his demise as much as anybody else does. I also hope Ukraine successfully defends their turf.

I just don't agree with spending that sort of jack.

May 13, 2022, 10:18 AM

need to know: "The top Democrat and Republican in the US Senate joined forces in a rare moment of unity on Thursday in an attempt to pass $40bn in aid for Ukraine..."

If the Uniparty is in, I'm ####### out. Stop funding ####### wars.

InB4 I'm a racist, magat, uneducated neanderthal who is Pro-Putin. Go ahead and promptly #### your self if that's your counter to this position.

According to his article, here's his demand: "Paul is demanding that the legislation be altered to require an inspector general to oversee spending on Ukraine."

First question: why is there not some level of accountability to track spend in this bill?

Second question: why do you guys not support this position? I guess we're so used to helicoptering FedCoin all over the place as a taxpayer, we don't give a flying #### who gets our money right? #### me this is moronic.

Just to align on positions here, you're in favor of sending $40B to Ukraine to fund the war?

Based on some various economic pitfalls on the supply side, $40B allocations to subsidize industries that are failing to meet demand for critical items would seem like something that would benefit Americans more...that is unless you're long Lockheed, Northrup, etc. like donkey kong, or work for the MIC...which I'm sure these Uniparty pieces of #### are.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Have you considered half decaf?

May 13, 2022, 10:24 AM

What's a week or two when you're fighting off an invasion of your country?

It appears that the answer to my question is a resounding "yes."

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

decaf is for #######, old people, and people

May 13, 2022, 10:39 AM

who are unemployed.

I'm not fighting off an invasion to my country, so not following your question. Maybe you need to toss that decaf brah and get on the espresso train lol

You glossed over a few questions in my post...reposting here to get alignment, thanks.

Let's drill into this a bit more.........
According to this source1, Russia's current military budget is $66.8B for FY2020. Let's assume $70B to keep the math simple since you're running low octane coffee this mawnin.

We've already sent Ukraine, what, ~$1B? So now we're going to have funded Ukraine to the tune of 59% of Russia's military budget? ###?

How do we know there won't be any repercussions from this? Do we care? Or naw - we can just fly the Ukraine flag on our tweeter profiles and feel like we're helping the world?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, of course, I support aid to Ukraine ASAP.

May 13, 2022, 10:47 AM

I agree with Senator McConnell - “Ukraine is not asking us to fight this war. They’re only asking for the resources they need to defend themselves against this deranged invasion. And they need this help right now.”

Understanding why the US and The West need to do everything possible to help Ukraine win this war and repel this invasion is not rocket science.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

let me stop you right there......

May 13, 2022, 11:05 AM

#### Mitch McConnell. I would never leverage his quotes, or actions, or anything whatsoever related to that turtle looking #### sucker in an attempt to bolster my position. Ever. In fact, I'd use him inversely to how you've done....to showcase a position is extremely bearish against the pieces of #### running this country.

You still glossed over two of my questions. At this point you must be drinking some soy decaf latte bruh...c'mon you're edging me here.

1 - Why is there no provision to track spending relative to budget, per Rand's ask?
2 - Why is there pushback to put this provision in place?

The US and the West need to do everything possible to stop this ####### war. Not fund it to let them "win". People are dying for no ####### reason. Continuation could lead to escalation.

Why are we burdened with the responsibility of providing all necessary funds from NATO to Ukraine? Ukraine isn't even a NATO ally? The Brits are better bankers than we are, where's their donations?

Also, just found this article. So....Ukraine has spent 8.3B so far this year. Originally, Xiden asked for 33B. If my math is right, 8.3B - 1B = 7.3B. 40B - 33B = 7B. hmm...this is the US v Russia at this point. Ukraine coming out of pocket by ~$300M to fight big Red.

That's about as infuriating as it gets, bro.

We're completely fractured if I can't have a position of not going to war or not funding a war without being labeled as Pro-Putin or as a Putin apologist.

Re: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand

May 13, 2022, 12:48 PM [ in reply to aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand ]

Look, I'm not a Rand Paul fan. At all.

But asking for some kind of oversight to determine where $40 billion worth of guns, ammo, and war machines wind up is on the face of it not a big ask. At all. Ukraine might be trying to turn itself into a democracy - that's really what this war is about, actually - but they're still very much a bent, damaged, very corrupt democracy and very much a work in progress, and there's bad dudes who are basically very much like mafia dudes still entrenched in every corner of that country.

Why is oversight such a sticking point? I don't get it. Agree and let's send the stuff. But on this I'm with Rand Paul: I wanna know where it goes and if it's being redirected to places it shouldn't be, I wanna be able to cut it off.

Where on earth did you perceive that Trump and McConnel were BFFs? Sure, they had an alliance to get SCOTUS judges in place ... similar to how Soviet Union, the UK, and USA had an alliance to beat Nazi Germany.

Dear Chuckston T-Man, this is a golden opportunity for you to learn from others who have put (1) real effort into reading what the Ukraine aid bill is about and (2) genuine thought into why Rand Paul said 'no ... unless certain fiscally responsible measures at attached to the bill.'

Really, rather than being made at dawghater23 and ryanadidas®, you can understand how other people think and why they think that way.

Oh yes, how do you like inflation? If you love it, then big gov't expenditures without oversight are the best way to get a lot more of it.

Good news: You are anonymous on the TNet board. There's no need to worry about whether you are 'right' or 'wrong' on this platform. But you can take these learnings and be smarter where it really counts ... with real live people in your life. Take advantage of this learning opportunity, even if you decide to remain petulant on TNet.
