What did Rece say last night about "Clemsoning"?

Nov 7, 2014, 9:16 AM

I was watching with a bunch of people and didn't catch it all (I heard he mentioned USuCk though).

Did Palmer man up and eat crow or do we have to never lose another game to an unranked opponent for the rest of his douchey life?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He said it was archaic

Nov 7, 2014, 9:17 AM

Without coming out directly, they basically said it didn't really apply anymore

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson

yes-- said is was archaic and that Rece was the the first

Nov 7, 2014, 9:28 AM

to bury it a year or 2 ago while everyone else was still hanging on to it

Didn't hear the Clemsoning thang.

Nov 7, 2014, 9:17 AM

I do remember him saying something like Dabo shouldn't talk crap until he beats the coots again or something along those lines.

What?

Nov 7, 2014, 9:19 AM

Purty shore it was close to the end of the game when they were talking about Dabo mentioning Clemson as the only team from SC to win a BCS bowl. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

This is incorrect. They were talkin specifically about the Orange Bowl jab Dabo took at Spurrier and how it would probably be better for Dabo to "take care of those guys first and then you can do all the talking you want."

So not only were you being condescending for no apparent reason, you were also flat out incorrect.

Coots have beat us 5 straight years. Check.

Nov 7, 2014, 11:16 AM [ in reply to Didn't hear the Clemsoning thang. ]

Clemson, not the coots, have been to and won a BCS game. Check. What's the problem according to SECPN with Dabo? Had the sound off as usual.

Re: Coots have beat us 5 straight years. Check.

The problem is that Dabo takes passive aggressive jabs at Steve Spurrier when he's never beaten him with his own players.

According to ESPN, not me.

The problem remains-other teams are choking big time, repeatedly, and these idiots only reference us. Florida gave up 140 yards to Mizzou a few weeks ago and they got hammered. That should be front and center based on the number of joke games they have played in the last few years.

At the risk of whoring for points,

Nov 7, 2014, 9:23 AM

I can tell exactly how many teams:

I think ESPN gives those guys a print out of talking points

Nov 7, 2014, 9:30 AM

so they can reference in down periods. And until someone strikes that out of the computer database under Clemson it will always be talked about. Even when we win convincingly they say "well no sign of clemsoning here today". They bring up the same stuff every time we're on TV. Now the Daniel Rodriguez stuff is one of those items but i'm all for it. But ESPn just doens't have much in the way of imagination or updates during broadcasts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You could tell they were on strict orders from ESPN

Nov 7, 2014, 9:37 AM

to not mention it. They started to late in the game but then changed directions mentioning many Tigers fans think the term would be more appropriate for the Gamecocks. They then stated Clemson needs to beat them first but this is the year. It was done well.

ESPN doesn't want to damage their product by creating a negative connotation with one of their top twenty products.

I don't think you'll hear that term on ESPN again.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

wait, so there is an ESPN agenda... to protect Clemson?

Nov 7, 2014, 11:06 AM

My mind just exploded in half.

I agree. I watched it and even DVR'd it.

They never said "Clemsoning", they laughingly called it the "Clemson word", and mentioned Dabo's record against unranked teams, and how the term no longer applies and hasn't for a while, calling it archaic.

They then mentioned that they hear from "a lot" of Clemson fans about how the "other team in the state" always loses to an unranked team, and they should have a name for it. Rece then went on to say that Dabo mentioned he's the only team in SC that has ever won a BCS bowl, at which point Rece said Clemson fans should wait until Clemson beats SCAR on the field before doing any bragging.

I agreed with all of it.

They were very cordial to Clemson last night IMO, but you could tell that every one of them REALLY wanted Watson to get in the game to fire things up and give them something to talk about.

I was listening very closely when it came up to see what J. Palmer was going to chime in and say about it.

They handled it very well calling it "the word that will not be spoken", and then Palmer did say it anyway kind of in a questioning way... he probably doesn't get the same notes as the others (or just doesn't read them).

Then they mentioned S.Car and how they have been struggling, and that's when the BCS thing came up and Rece said he agreed, but that we should beat them on the field before we use that as a talking point.

I thought he was right on point. (Rece, not J. Palm).

Another note about the announcers last night. I was at a bar the first half and couldn't hear anything, but watched the second half at home. The whole second half, Pollack and Palmer kept barbing each other (Again - this seems to happen lots of games). I find it pretty funny, but does anyone else get the idea they really do not like each other?
