...what did Jimbo Fisher know????

Nov 21, 2013, 2:35 PM

...was he aware of the alleged crime? If so, did he think it was "closed"? If a recruit is involved in something like that, do you still recruit him? So far, I don't think Fisher talked about any of this....

he didn't know because he doesn't want to know so he can later plead ignorance and avoid being implicated in any way.

I dont know how much he knew but the fact he never pressed for an investigation or followed up to see what was being done really bothers me. as a parent and grandparent I dont see how you could do that unless he was so gone mentally he could comprehend what JS did.

It's an ongoing investigation and Fisher shouldn't be speaking out about it.

I for one hope he didn't do it. I don't wish that on the girl and I hope he didn't flush his life down the drain over some tail.

absolutely ridiculous that you think he should be benched over an alleged crime.

innocence, however, that is your opinion.

Keep in mind that as head coach at a major university, should you suspend said player, your actions make him look guilty to the public, who are potential jurors in his trial.(perception is huge) In which case, if he is truly innocent, you just potentially hurt his chances of acquittal amongst a jury of his peers. Because trust me the prosecutor would point out his suspension to cast doubt.

It is beyond stupid to go out in front of cameras as a person charged of a crime without letting your lawyer do ALL of the talking. Barring, maybe, reading from a prepared statement.

Nov 21, 2013, 3:57 PM [ in reply to ..okay..I didn't kow that.....*** ]

Your true motive and bias were shining through brightly!
Just as you did not know he was a red shirt freshmen you do not know all the facts of this case and at this point you have to believe everyone in law enforcement and the city of Tallahassee are covering something up( possible)or there may not be anything to this. I also suspect there is a lot more that you do not know!
I think you like a lot of other people think way to much about sports and not enough about people the lives and there well being.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

..I'd hate to think what your biases might be in this case..***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I guess i don't understand what you are asking either b/c

Nov 21, 2013, 3:13 PM

it seems ridiculous that anything should have been done to Winston by Jimbo Fischer. What was he supposed to do? No charges were ever filed, much less a verdict reached.

If anyone is to blame to this point it is the TPD for not pursuing this until it became a national news story.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Once it's shown that this was a cover up by the TPD,

Nov 21, 2013, 3:17 PM

the investigation will then lead into who at FSU knew of the pending charges and attempted cover up.Once police officers start losing their jobs, they will then tell it all. There was no need for a cover up if nothing happened.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's no evidence of an orchestrated cover up to this

Nov 21, 2013, 3:22 PM

point either. It could have just been one guy. He warns the girl of the possible firestorm her allegations could start to maybe scare her off. He can then say that it's important to warn a victim before bringing a case against a famous person (its the same deal with politicians, etc) so that they are prepared for the potential backlash and that he was only telling her that in good faith. He's probably lying, but more people would have to be involved to prove that or else it's just her interpretation of what she thought he meant vs his own word.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

..so if your the coach..you continue to recruit.....

Nov 21, 2013, 3:17 PM [ in reply to I guess i don't understand what you are asking either b/c ]

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nov 21, 2013, 3:17 PM

believe there is a lot of noise like this within top football programs. The question is what actions were taken. In this case, you would expect Fisher at LEAST spoke to Winston to get full disclosure. If it comes out that there is an actual fire to this smoke, then I'll ask more of Fisher.

But for now I assume Fisher knows anytime there is an accusation against one on his team. And if facts warrant, then action to whatever degree should taken. The grandaddy of all the scandals - Penn State - was so bad because so many knew enough to take action (appropriate action) and DID NOT.

My two cents.

Until the sharp end of the stick is pointed at them. That said ..... I believe he should be taken out of consideration for the heisman. If he is later found to be guilty, it'll be yet another tarnished spot on the award. If he is innocent, too bad that's what happens when you put yourself in a position to even be accused.

Nov 21, 2013, 3:29 PM [ in reply to So many forget this little tidbit ]

is make an accusation that cannot be easily proven in order to derail a Heisman candidate they don't like. Not a good precedence to set.

If this does eventually become more real, there will be a lot more tarnished reputations than just the committee. Local police (who are said to have not even interviewed him), FSU, state's attorney, etc.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So virginity is a prerequisite for the Heisman ...
