Yeah, the refs were beyond horrific. Phantom PI call at the worst possible time, then a "no call" on an obvious, blatant textbook hold by pitt that allowed their TD.
Defense got a$$ kicked all day long.
Deshaun still throwing too many inexcusable picks. He's not seeing the defense for some reason and it's hurting us.
After all of that though, all we had to do was punt and pin them deep, and we would have had a much better chance. We had stopped them several times late in the half. Instead, we go for it on 4th with two possible outcomes: We make it and win, or we don't make it and it's likely that we lose. Just hard to understand.

I agree with the call not to punt - we had not been able to stop them at any field position. I would have gone for it too to try to end the game.

Not sure on the call to run wide vs throwing as we were doing all night.....as hard as, it is a humbling experience

It would have been the smart thing to do because as many points and as much yardage as we gave up to a 5-4 team, it's pretty clear now that this team can't run the ball. We want to... but we can't. Gotta fix that if you want to win a championship.
Still, this is a great season, we can beat the coots again, be ACC champs, and go to a good bowl game. Lots left to play for, and a lot of young talent to build on.

Agree we should have punted or ran the ball up the middle 2 times. Bad play calling on last 2 0ffensive plays

It was the right call, as you stated "the defense got its ### kicked all day" plus the phantom penalties. 1 yard to go to seal the win, Jumbo package in, it was the right call to go for it in that situation considering we hadn't really stopped Pitt all day - for one reason or another ??.
I would have run off tackle if it were me, the sweep seemed to negate the Wilkins/Lawrence effect by pitching/running wide. If anything, it was a bad call by Elliot/Scott.
