Dabo is the 3rd highest paid coach in the country. He's built the 2nd best program of the CFP era. What coaches should be paid more than Dabo, and why?

out of a broken QB. Because of Streeter's adjusting the playbook and figuring out ways to score, that's why we won 11 games and finished in the top 13.
We're 5th in wins the last two years, Gomer. We wouldn't have had 11 wins this year without some creative playcalling. There are no OCs who could have improved DJ anymore than Streeter did, and I'd venture to guess we'd have been lucky to win 8 games if an OC tried to force his system on DJ.
Dabo is moving on from Streeter because a) he wasn't happy with Cade's development during the course of the year, and more importantly he wants a new, more contemporary and explosive design. He says Streeters a great coach who land on his feet and likely be a head coach one day.
Dang, if only we listened to phony pheebo we may have won 8 games.

I said in the previous post, Dabo's moving on from Streeter because a) he wasn't happy with Cade's development during the course of the year, and b) more importantly, he wants a new, more explosive design. Move on from the Elliott era.
He also said Streeter's a great coach who'll land on his feet and likely be a head coach one day.

He stated facts about a segment of our fanbase, but at the end of the day you're free to do and say what you want. Doesn't change the fact what he said was true.
Regardless, the point of my post was to cite how Dabo's salary is right in line with his accomplishments.
Being 5th in wins the last two tremendously handcuffed seasons isn't chopped liver. Tremendous job milking this handcuffed team to 11 wins and an ACC Championship.

I'll give you the uSC game this year, where I'm going to side with, "we should run more", but we lost the other 5 because of an inept QB, not "Dabos mistakes".
Are you going to at least try to name some coaches that should be paid more and why?

Most of the time it's people who are jealous of the money he makes. They can't see the big picture. Because of the money he makes they feel he shouldn't ever make mistakes.

Yea. That logic doesn’t make sense to me either. I worked for a large corporation and for a time I was one of, if not the highest paid people with my job title. I’m really glad they didn’t equate that to never being able to make a mistake or questionable decision.

Beamer should be making triple what Dabo makes, I mean the way everyone stays upset with Dabo and talks about how stupid he is he should probably be the lowest paid p5 coach in America. Hopefully Neff will see he’s overpaid and make the necessary adjustments.

live a full day without whining and complaining about something. Constructive criticism is fine. But when you start getting personal and taking shots at the man's livelihood then the only option at that point is to fire the guy. Which if you're to that point them maybe you can see how ridiculous your state of mind is. the moment the guy leaves we will be back to the 7-5 seasons the we used to live through every year. I know some will feel like we'll just stay put in CFP contention but odds are higher that we'll find out that as Dabo says "winning is hard." And it is.. B/c if it was easy everybody would be doing it.
But to your point, i'm not making that list. I'm riding it out with Dabo until he decides to leave. The fact that he knows how to win coupled with his character and vision are hard to come by. Dare i say impossible to come by. Some of ya'll get squeamish when he makes a parallel to his faith, i on the other hand look at that and say..wow..it takes balls of steel to be on that stage and still be that bold. I love it. Those guys are hard to find. Most go hide in a closet or whitewash their answers. Not Dabo!

El Tigre. Well said. Dabo built one of the greatest programs in the nation. Before he became the coach we would get excited to go 8-4 and play in the Gator bowl. If a down year is playing in the Orange bowl then sign me up.

Considering only 2 of the top 10 paid (base pay and no bonuses) coaches (Clemson and UGA) won their conference championship games in 2022, I guess Dabo earned his pay. Give credit to the 2 top 10 paid coaches that made their conference championships and lost (USC and LSU) and the one that made the CFP without making their conference championship (O31-0 State) and you have half of the top 10 paid coaches that watched any championship game at home? Why isn't the focus on those coaches rather than Dabo?

If you don’t like what he says or feel like he is telling you what to do then tune out. I’m sure Dabo won’t lose any sleep because he hurt your feelings. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Saban and Smart should be and are paid more than Swinney. And the reasons are obvious given the past two seasons.
Saban should be paid ALOT more than Swinney, given his performance.
But what your visceral question overlooks is the fact that Swinney gets paid the third highest head coach's salary in the nation while the program barely cracks the top 25 in revenues.
So he's an outlier. And outliers always attract a certain amount of scrutiny.

1) In the context of College football coaches, is his salary appropriate?
2) Is anyone worth that much money?
My answer to the first is a solid "yes" for reasons listed in other posts. But the larger question, for me, is the second. And my answer is a solid "no." IMO, no one, outside of some surgeons whose work truly saves lives, deserves that kind of salary.
