in no way was doing horribly under Bowden. He very much started the resurgence in recruiting. And it should be noted that Clemson has recruited well in its overall history.

I don't know enough about Ole Miss to know their history (and don't care to do the research), but they have come out of nowhere in comparison to their recent history for the TOP recruits (i.e., Nkemdiche, Daniel, etc.). This, coupled with the reports of their providing a job for Nkemdiche's father, is what gets people's attention. Obviously it must not be "illegal" for them to be involved in (or benefitting from an associate individual/entity who did) setting Nkemdiche's father up with a job, but IMO, it should be.

Ole Miss isn't the first to do something like that (i.e., provide the HS coach a job, a parent a job, etc., if they did); several schools/associates have. But "extracurricular" activity like that just doesn't settle well. So you can get in trouble for providing an extra dessert to a recruit...but you can provide a job to a recruit's coach or parent (or clearly benefit from it) with absolutely no problem.

That doesn't reconcile with me. Even if Ole Miss itself wasn't involved in providing the father a job (assuming he was provided one), clearly (whoever allegedly provided it) the job was connected to the fact he has one son there who plays...and the other is the #1 recruit in the country who Ole Miss wants. And if that isn't the motive, the appearance alone should disallow it.

It's part of this thing called "Ethics."

From my perspective, however, I wanted to be clear that they were allegations/reports.... I think I was pretty clear about that. And I actually posted that before being aware of the post I am referring you to.

They were not blind accusations, but until there actually was something in writing that 100% proved Nkemdiche's father was reporting for work there, I was not going to say as much. And if nothing ever happened to prove impropriety, then all I could say is that I didn't like how it appeared. But there have been several reports that he was hired at the medical center there near Ole Miss.

As I said, I personally think that such should be an impropriety. If there was no impropriety, then it APPEARS like there was, which is an ethics "test." I have a problem with it. The post I refer you to seems to suggest that there was indeed something suspicious.

A few years ago, Arkansas went after a big-time QB. No one probably knows the whole truth of the story, but part of the "package" of getting that QB was to hire the QB's HS coach--at least the football nation thought so. That QB was the top-rated QB in the country: Mitch Mustain. And that HS coach just so happened to be none other than Gus Malzahn. Of course, we all now know the rest of the story--and might feel a bit like Malzahn and Mustain might have been a mutually exclusive...just circumstantially connected...situation. However, no one knew at the time of the recuitment/hire, including Houston Nutt, how successful that would be. People had a problem with at least the appearance of impropriety:

I say all of this to point out that there have been other situations...much more low profile...of parents/coaches getting jobs at/near a university to which Mr. Big Time Recruit is being recruited. And it just doesn't set well. Obviously, though, some of it is hard to prove. It just doesn't set well.

That takes me full circle to the Nkemdiche situation.
