We’re finding ways to win BB games even while short handed.

Feb 26, 2022, 6:14 PM

Our shooting was not as hot @BC as it was against Wake, but we got to the line a lot late in the game and we hit our FTs.

Also, we killed BC on the boards ... particularly on offensive rebounds.

This is not a pro/con Brad Brownell post. I’m beyond that issue.

It’s just an observation about a team that has played pretty good ball this past week.

We’re finding ways to win games and as a fan of the players you have to take joy in that.

Love it for our players. Dawes and Hunter seem like they are actually having fun out there. Something has obviously changed.

I agree and can only hope that this great hustle and play remains contagious. The bench guys were ready to play when called upon.. that just didn’t happen overnight

If you had told me that my Tigers would be winning without Hall in the lineup I wouldn’t have believed it.

It shows me a lot when the new lineup plays as well as they have when the major injuries occurred.

Similar to what Coach Swinney had to deal with after numerous injuries early in the year.

GOOD TEAMS AND GOOD COACHES FIND A WAY TO WIN.

So what happened earlier in the season finding ways to win under a good coach?

I've observed this phenomena for over a decade -- the tendency of BB teams to collapse under pressure in big games and the 4th qtr of close games. Likewise, the Tigers under BB seem to rally when team expectations are very low. BC's 2-10 on the road. That said, congrats to the team and a win is a win. Keep it going Tigers ...

If that's the tendency, how did Brownell win 10 out of 11 against BC and has only lost twice to Wake?

3 guards, small lineup and more zone must suit the healthy players well.

Yea it really makes no sense if you think about it, but will take a win anytime.

We aren't playing a small lineup. We are actually playing Big. Middlebrooks, Shef, and Bohannan all played more minutes than Honor and Hemenway barely played.

Yeah Honor (22 min) and Hemenway (5 min) but the other guards Hunter, Dawes, and Collins combined for 94 minutes, making total guard play 121 minutes.

Schieffelin (26 min), Middlebrooks (27 min) and Bohannon (27 min) played how many minutes with all 3 on the court at the same time?

I wasn't in Boston, but listening to most of the game, it seemed the majority of the time 3 guards and 2 bigs playing.

I watch too many BB games, not just Clemson, where you can see the rebounding is NOT emphasized. I really wonder what practices look like and what the coaches are saying. I understand your time is limited at practice, but come on . . . You can control a game by controlling the boards. Much like controlling a FB game by controlling the line.
