This is an ongoing problem we have, IMO. We fund R&D of tons of new, shiny, fancy weapons systems. More than we can actually deploy effectively. And we load new ships up with so much crap they're actually LESS capable. You see it with soldiers as well. They have so much crap hanging off them they waddle into battle against agile Afghans with AK-47's and a pocket knife.
We need to find out what 1) works and 2) can be scaled up in production and 3)cut out the rest of the less useful garbage.

Agree with much of your statement. However, it’s up to the individual soldier how light they want to travel. No one makes them wear body armor, carry extra water, etc.
I would argue our foot soldiers are more lethal than ever. We own the night, so an AK, knife and man jammies make the Taliban more mobile,however they can only wish they had what our guys have.

The new RV's have these, along with 11 speaker entertainment systems that you control with your phone. I mean if the new ships had their own app that would be worth the upgrade.
