Drama Queens

Oct 24, 2021, 11:40 AM

If some of weak constitution knew how many bad Clemson football seasons I have gone through in my life you undoubtedly would have quit and become Coots. What drama queens some of you! Deal with reality. We are going through a tough season. Don't project too much on that like: Clemson's run is done, this staff sux, and Dabo is just a "cheerleader", etc. All of that is so spur of the moment and forgets recent as well as past program history. A bad season is just that. And who knows, just like in 1980 at 5-5 and playing a Coot team that was heavily favored there are games and moments that can transcend the record and provide fond memories of such a season. Here's to better days. Go Tigers!!!!!!!

We are going through a tough season because of Dabo’s poor hires on the offensive side of the ball. Those better days you’re talking about depend on Dabo making some tough decisions in the off-season.

Season, and trust Dabo to make those calls once it’s over. I agree that everything needs to be re-evaluated. Current coaches are auditioning for their jobs next season. No one should feel safe except Dabo and Brent.

Well then you haven't been watching the same games I've watched. Since Dabo, and Dabo making Jeff Scott the WR's coach, we have been known as WR U up until Jeff took the job at USF, and most of his receivers have moved on to the NFL. When Jeff Scott sent one of his WR's on the field, we knew that 98% of their targets, the ball would be caught. It may not have been 100% of the time, but it was close, and it was good enough for our Tiger team to be a legit WR U!!!!

Its like he blew a dog whistle and you came running.

Oct 24, 2021, 2:47 PM [ in reply to Re: Drama Queens ]

the only position that has a trend of underperforming is the OL. And as far as the others, please save me any silly arguments that 7 games are greater than 6 years with greatest run in the history of our program. Elliott has been the primary playcaller since 2015, and all we've done is go to 6 straight playoffs, we went to 4 national title games, we won 2 national championships, we won more playoff games than anyone except Alabama, and we're the 2nd best team in the country during the playoff era, largely due to playcalling. He didn't forget how to call plays coming into 2021.

Grisham is new and he obviously needs to produce improvement in the WRs, but its to soon to say he should be fired. Spiller is new and the RBs are perhaps the strongest part of the offense.

So who else are you talking about?

Please stop being so dramatic. Thank you.

McNabb and Harrison carve up the Ford twins, so I know how to suffer a bad Clemson game/season/draught trust me.

It's more than a little condescending calling everyone who you disagree with "drama queens" though.

I can promise you that 99% of us would lose our jobs if we had as bad a job performance as TE. And I can also promise you that 2 million a year is also more money than 99% of us make as well.

I don't expect Dabo to fire any coach midseason but there is NOTHING wrong with pointing out bad coaching when you see it especially when a coach is one of the highest-paid assistants in college football.

Oct 24, 2021, 12:28 PM

So many people have seemed to have lost their minds and act like we will never lose or have a bad season. Changes may need to be made but we will survive 2021 as painful as it may be to some people. Just my humble opinion.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can speak for myself, that I am just a little disappointed

Oct 24, 2021, 12:34 PM

that we are seeing the same thing every game on offense.

Make no mistake though, as much as I am disappointed and lost all confidence in TE, I do trust Dabo. I think a lot of people here feel the same.

on offense benefits on the OL playing better. I think that is the first place Dabo will address, but not until after the season is over.

Miss as in not ever signing them? We rarely got our top options or great options until the last 2 or 3 years. We are definitely recruiting better the last couple of years.

Oct 24, 2021, 2:50 PM [ in reply to I am making an observation because ]

Especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Given our elite talent and elite coaches, and the fact that we have been a playoff team every year recently, a down year shouldn’t be this bad. The drop off is inexcusable and is clear evidence that something is very wrong.

Comparing this team to Clemson teams from years ago that didn’t have nearly the advantages this team has in 2021 isn’t reasonable IMO.

Past 8 years in a row is really puzzling tho. I’ve been a fan forever but the drop off is what is so shocking. I kinda saw it coming with our offensive stagnation the past two years but I hope we don’t just ignore it and act like it’s just bad luck. It’s more than that. Two years of this will take us out of the hunt on elite recruiting. So fix it please after this year!

If you had the 6 best years in company history behind you,

Oct 24, 2021, 2:55 PM [ in reply to I was up in the stands at the '96 Gator Bowl watching ]

then no company in their right mind would fire you after 7 weeks. They would want to know what's going with your group, and you'd have to explain that your Manager (QB) is not performing up to his proven potential, and his team under him is struggling to pull their weight as well.

The company wouldn't fire you after 6 years of nation leading success and the best years in company history.

You are the definition of a drama queen when you say things like 99%. Find some other team to cheer on. We are having an off year. It happens. We have lost to three ranked teams and none of those games were at home.

You kind of sound like that guy who let's life happen to them. Never question anything. Acceptance of your place and standing in life. I've known a couple of dull guys. Nothing interesting to say, ever. no passion, just existing and taking up space.

Not saying you are that person but only sounds kind of familiar. It's a forum...let the discussion and debate flow. Take it all with a grain of salt including this post.

This is kinda like the courage to change the things I can….prayer. I’m not a coach or a player. Complaining, or pointing out obvious negatives won’t change things either. I chose to try to look at some positives. Got some key injured dudes back. Freshmen and sophomores all over the place. At this point play hard, gain experience, and beat the dayum dirtpeckers! Re: Drama Queens

Oct 24, 2021, 4:35 PM

I agree, some folks are losing their minds. If you watch allot of this game, you will see that seasons like this happen all the time. I think the problem is that nick saban has ruined coaching because no matter what he does, he never seems to have years like this.

I’m critical of our play calling. Our apparent total lack of preparation between our players and for other teams schemes. The performance of our OL, QB, and WRs. There so much wrong this year, it’s hard to pinpoint what to fix.

I don’t think the coaches that won us two nattys forgot how to coach football, but at this point it doesn’t matter, sometimes you need to make a change just to show that you are doing something different.

The crowd wants blood and whether dabo likes it or not he’s going to have to make a sacrifice.

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but It has to be done. I just hope the result is not worse.

Re: Drama Queens

Oct 25, 2021, 8:07 AM

A lot of truth to your post. Agree with most. While I agree there may be some in this crowd you speak of want change just for the results of this year.

That said, that has no bearing or reasons why we need change. It goes deeper than that. This season is bad but if anyone has actually dug deeper into "why" some are calling for changes, it has nothing to do with this year solely.

The voices we need to be taking notice of are the ones that have been preaching an unpopular stance since 2018. If you really want to take a deeper dive, when we should have been on the uptick since 2018, we've actually been on a steady decline since then and it encompasses more than just the offensive line.

Amen, AThomas, most of the Tiger teams from the past didn't have no where close to the talent that we have now.

I have been through some painful season with our past Tiger teams, and 59 years later, I'm still here. But with this team, I hurt for them bc they deserve better, and their results causes me to be angry, and my anger is mostly with the coaching bc, this teams talent level is much better than the results, and IMO that is coaching!!!!

You youngsters do not remember that during and after the 1980 season, people were calling to fire Ford. We have played the hardest part of our schedule and nobody remaining has a decent defense. FSU looked good against UMass. Almost everyone has this season. The team of Mystery? Wake has offense but block sunlight. Coots? Enough said.
We should play pretty decent against these teams and finish off the season with a bang. If all you ain'ters want to chime in, go talk to some coots who might care.
