Normally I try to be positive when submitting

Nov 9, 2014, 1:02 PM

a post. But in this case I must apologize for this post. It is a negative post.

I do not like urban Meyer and I don't trust him either. And at times he acts like a jerk. I know this a random post and thank you for letting me vent on TNet.

When no one seems to like you and stories

Nov 9, 2014, 1:08 PM

always come out about how arrogant you are when the cameras aren't rolling you're an arsehole. He lied about being sick to leave florida because he knew they were about to go way down hill, he can blame it on whatever ailment he wants the truth is he didn't want to take the heat or be looked down upon for the football team he was going to field the next football season.

If it makes you feel better .............

As the old saying goes, "It's not, 'what you have done for me?', it is, 'what have you done for me, lately?'"

and I feel the same about him. Convinced he tampered and tried to get spiller to transfer to florida. The guy seems like he is a weasel

Florida went down hill because Muschamp took over....

Urban Meyer left Florida loaded with talent. Urban may be a jerk, but I don't buy the conspiracy theories about him leaving UF.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He went 8-5 his last year there.***

I disagree. The man had numerous job offers. He could have jumped ship the normal way. He did have a benign cyst removed from around his brain.

I don't like him either... He basically weaseled his way out of UF conveniently after the departure of Tebow. He cited health problems that I believe were a complete charade and then took a job at the place where he always wanted to be. It is cheap. I hope OSU never makes their way into the playoff while he is there. The B1G is so weak that he basically has to go undefeated in order for that to happen. Hopefully, there can be a Va Tech type team that beats them and keeps them out of the playoff every year

I agree, I think Malzahn is a way better person than Meyer. But there is no better or classier coach in the country than Bill Snyder.

Meyer shows a lot of telltales that you associate with a psychopath. Keep in mind psychopaths are not necessarily serial killers - a lot of very successful businessmen and politicians show these same traits. In particular there's a complete lack of empathy, the objectification of anyone who isn't them - they live in a universe composed of them, them, precious them - and a facile superficial charm combined with a savage temper that explodes when things don't work out according to their design. They tend to be career opportunists, utterly devoid of loyalty, gifted manipulators, utterly controlling, and completely devoid of any sort of (real) moral center, though they usually fake one because it's convenient to maintain public image.

I've always thought Meyer showed a lot of these traits. I hardly suspect he's alone in the CFB ranks. His predecessor at Ohio State, Jim Tressel, seemed cut out of the same cloth. Bobby Petrino at Louisville is a pretty classic case. So honestly, is Mack Brown. Lou Holtz definitely fits the mold. (Spurrier, whatever his faults, does not. He can be (caustically) charismatic when he cares to, but he's blunt past the point of common sense, honest past the point of common sense, and has never seemed like a manipulator, opportunist, or rigidly controlling, to me. And he's a short-hours guy and sees no reason why his coaches shouldn't be, either. You can argue he's a complete arrogant #######, but it ain't the same breed of cat. At all.)

One red flag I've noted is that when these guys leave a program, it pretty much has to be completely overhauled, top to bottom. Because these guys control with manipulation and fear instead of actual principles, their locker rooms tend to be filled with problem children who got away with it instead of being disciplined because they were useful, while the hard-working and less problematic "good" kids are marginalized, and often victimized - because they weren't as useful. Having no empathy and no principles themselves, coaches like this seem to have very little use for character in others because there's no apparent use for it, and they could care less if the kids in their program - or, usually, the people who work for them - are happy or unhappy.

And these guys leave a trail of hatred and collateral damage behind them. They often win - but programs pay a big price, often for years afterward, for these guys having been there.

Just my own .02 worth.

Re: Normally I try to be positive when submitting

Nov 9, 2014, 3:20 PM

That is a really long, detailed rant, but you lose any and all credibility when you call Jim Tressel and Lou Holtz psychopaths.

Tressel in particular is the farthest thing from being all about himself. The guy was too selfless and tried to save kids from the inner city.

Also OSU went undefeated 2 years after he left, so that kind of defeats your theory.

Re: In other words, Spurrier has no common sense. I agree.
