coming out of the closet is hard

Mar 7, 2018, 4:23 PM

as religious.

if you're a democrat.

Well, it is pretty embarrassing.

Mar 7, 2018, 4:40 PM

Pubs don't mind declaring belief in nonsense because they have no shame and it gets them elected.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

No, it’s Sad

Mar 7, 2018, 5:11 PM [ in reply to Well, it is pretty embarrassing. ]

That you don’t respect others’ beliefs......

Re: No, it’s Sad

Mar 7, 2018, 5:30 PM

I respect other's beliefs as I'm sure you do as well Bengaline. But you have to agree that much of the anti-muslim sentiment comes largely from the right.

Clearly not everyone on the right, but Republican is the party of choice for many of the most racist groups like the KKK. (not meaning that the Republican party is racist in and of itself)

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

First, how did you jump to anti-muslim?

Mar 7, 2018, 6:37 PM

The Democrat in the column is upset that other Dems are afraid to express their beliefs b/c they will be shamed by those on the left. They certainly wouldn’t be shamed by those right of center.
Second, the Republican Party does not endorse nor support KKK and other such groups, so stop it!

Obama was not accepted by the Pubs as a Christian

Mar 7, 2018, 7:13 PM

"They certainly wouldn’t be shamed by those right of center."

Per the prior poster, you realize there are other beliefs besides Christianity. If you want him to respect your beliefs, then you should also respect other religion beliefs. Was pretty clear statement to me.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So do you think many progressives are anti-Christian, or no?

Mar 7, 2018, 7:45 PM

There certainly does seem to be a pretty major strain of them.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Remind me the definition of progressive politics?

Mar 7, 2018, 8:47 PM

So many titles that everybody needs to throw around. I can't comprehend that a person can support every individual platform of a political party.

One can be both fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Support capitalism yet still hold big business accountable and believe in social welfare for those unable to keep up. Believe in the 2nd Amendment but okay with certain restrictions. Support the LGBTQ community but still not understand any of it or think that it's normal. Be cool with Christian beliefs, abide by their basic principles, but not believe in God or tolerate fake Christians.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yet why are the few Muslim Dems in Congress revered

Mar 7, 2018, 8:13 PM [ in reply to Obama was not accepted by the Pubs as a Christian ]

For their faith, but the Christians are afraid to make their faith public for fear of being shamed by the leftists?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't really care. Each believe their own

Mar 7, 2018, 8:37 PM

Gay, straight, Christian, Muslim, whatever. Just have some integrity if people call themselves a Christian to also act like it. Don't cheat on your spouse. Care for the poor and less fortunate. You know, basic life principles.

My original comments were directed at your bs hypocrisy statements:

"It's sad you don't respect others' beliefs" while you yourself don't respect others beliefs

"They (Dem Christians) wouldn't be shamed by those right of center" yet easy google to find Obama Muslim / Anti-Christian theories

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Go back and read again

Mar 7, 2018, 8:43 PM

No where have I said I don’t respect others. Felix just changed the scope of the discussion.
So BS on your reading what you want to in others comments!

So....how do you reconcile Sharia law and #MeToo?***

TBH... I can't tell you one thing about Sharia Law

Mar 7, 2018, 8:41 PM

If I had to guess, it would be like any religious doctrine and open for interpretation by those more and less devout.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think that's why many pubs like Trump.

Mar 7, 2018, 6:31 PM [ in reply to Well, it is pretty embarrassing. ]

His complete lack of shame is like a superpower that they all see themselves having or wishing they had.

Re: coming out of the closet is hard

Mar 7, 2018, 5:28 PM

I can understand some of that. Many, myself included don't want to be grouped in the catagory "Christian" given how many are so political. Clearly the evangelicals support Trump not for the kind of example he sets but so as to achieve their political goals. He gives power to their voice which to me is antithetical to the teachings of Christ. IMHO

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sure worrying about not being "those Christians"...

Mar 7, 2018, 5:47 PM

because of your own politics is a whole lot better. Also, there is no official spokesperson or group that represents Evangelicalism.

Many Evangelicals do support Trump, but many do not, including many Evangelical leaders. I'm not sure that it's antithetical to Christianity to make a political calculation involving whether or not your desire for a better society is more or less important than the bad character of the leader you think might help you achieve that, or if it's antithetical to Christianity to calculate that even a leader with bad character might be better for the country than a leader you think will cause major harm to the country. I do think too many Christians frequently pay lip service to concerns about character when those concerns are about a political opponent while ignoring them when the concerns are about someone on "our team." I think many Christians revealed that they never understood why character was important in leaders in the first place, but others apparently thought that Trump's low character was less important than keeping the other guy (woman) out of office.

Re: Not sure worrying about not being "those Christians"...

Mar 7, 2018, 11:01 PM

Substitute Dems for Christians and Hillary for Trump in your post and it makes just as much sense.

Jude 1:4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Hey Jude, here’s a newsflash:

Mar 7, 2018, 10:20 PM

gay people and pedophiles have always existed. They weren’t invented when the Democratic Party was created.

Just different markets.

Mar 7, 2018, 8:56 PM

Dems know their market so they don't want to seem overly religious.

Trump knew his market so he faked being religious and that Bible was his favorite book.

They just want to get elected.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Just different markets.

Mar 7, 2018, 11:13 PM

Being a Christian does not equate to being sinless. In one of Paul's letter to the Corinthians he chided them for sins he felt they should've ceased by then, 20 years after he had first delivered the faith to them. Living a Spiritual life takes practice and discipline. It is a process. One does not become a mature Christian instantaneously. I do not question Trump's sincerity.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're a fool if you dont question Trump's sincerity...

Mar 8, 2018, 7:31 AM

on this issue. It's laughable.
