Who has Bama beat

Oct 1, 2017, 9:55 AM

An overrated FSU team? A couple of high schools? A team that use to not have an athletic department and may still not? A team with a interim HC and the NCAA on their front porch? Get out of here with that #1 ranking!

yeah, but they are in the SEC, so there's that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It just means more

Oct 1, 2017, 10:24 AM

Just look at LSU

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They're the real deal.

Oct 1, 2017, 10:24 AM

It doesn't matter who is 1 now anyway.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: They're the real deal.

Oct 1, 2017, 10:28 AM

They've beat who they're supposed to beat and beat them down. We'd be all to pieces if we were ranked #1 and they dropped us for playing a weak schedule. Like above said though it doesn't matter now anyway.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, if we were the defending champs with 3

Oct 1, 2017, 10:35 AM

Top 15 wins, 2 of them in supposedly intimidating environments, one against a player people still believe the Heisman frontrunner, we would be upset if people didn't think we were the best team in the nation. Oh wait...

All this Bama Love around here sounds like the Paul Finebaum show. Undefeated defending champs just made history beating three top 15 teams before month of October and two of them on road at night......if that ain't number 1 then ESPN can kiss my.

They have great talent and a great coach.

Oct 1, 2017, 10:43 AM

They're the real deal. We are too.

I guess there could be worse things to argue or discuss. We could be like the game chicks and be arguing about the next oc or hc hire. Lol

Espn has nothing to do with the rankings.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I see what you're saying and agree, but

Oct 1, 2017, 2:33 PM [ in reply to Re: They're the real deal. ]

we should have been #1 coming out of the gates. Champs, until proven otherwise.

But in all, I also agree - it doesn't truly matter right now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

#1 doesn't matter now but it does in the final poll!

Oct 1, 2017, 10:31 AM [ in reply to They're the real deal. ]

That way we choose where we play our semifinal game. Eliminate any chance of playing USC in the Rose Bowl.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't care where we play as long as we are one of the 4.*****

Beat Auburn and Va Tech by 122 and I'll be impressed***

Vandy is better than BC. Beating Vandy 59-0

Oct 1, 2017, 10:43 AM

on the road is about the same as if we beaten BC 70-0 at home last week.

Just because they've beaten bad to decent teams doesn't mean they haven't done it in an impressive manner.

I think you can make a good argument for us being #1 based on pure resume, and I think we would be solidly #1 in the CFP rankings right now, but Bama is going to continue to be #1 with Vegas and predictive models.

And I'm perfectly fine with that. There's really no difference between 1 and 2 and it seems to motivate the team.

Running up the score is something Bama and motorcycle boy does.
Dabo don't roll like that.

Re: Beat Auburn and Va Tech by 122 and I'll be impressed***

Oct 1, 2017, 2:16 PM

Bama has never been a team that runs up the score. Normally their offense isn't good enough to do it. Yesterday, their 6th string running back scored a td with 5 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. You can't ask walk ons and reserve players to not score when they have a chance. When you are that deep into your bench, it's up to the other team to stop you. Saban did exactly what dabo does when we are up big. That's not running up the score.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So i guess that means the SEC kinda sucks now right

Oct 1, 2017, 2:30 PM

if the waterboy can score on another SEC team.

Bama is beating up on SEC scrubs. Looks alot like last year. The tigers keep improving week after week and are on equal footing with the Tide.

They have no quality wins (FSU has more issues than just a injured QB). Remember hwen tOSU beat Nebraska and Maryland 62-3 in back to back weeks last year, and then got exposed in the playoffs?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Hmm.Reading up to the part.

Oct 1, 2017, 2:16 PM [ in reply to Read this ]

"No, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss aren’t all that great." Then I stopped reading. If you as a sports writer admit that the competition for a team(Alabama) is weak you lose all credibility for anything said after that if you are trying to defend their "dominance".

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They're still getting A LOT of mileage out of the FSU win...

Oct 1, 2017, 1:24 PM

Otherwise, they really haven't played anyone.

Re: Who has Bama beat

Oct 1, 2017, 2:07 PM

I think we should be #1, but I honestly can't get upset over Bama being there either. I look at it in a way of, if you're a voter and thought that Alabama was the best team in the country, then what exactly has Bama shown that would change your mind? Yes, Clemson has done a ton to draw attention and prove themselves, but I can't find fault with someone who thought they were the best team in the country before the season started, and not changing their belief on that after seeing them blow out FSU, and win their first two SEC games by a combined score of 125-3. Yes, those wins were against bad teams, but I'm just saying that doesn't exactly do anything to make you change your mind on Bama either. I do think the CFP rankings would have us #1 if they were already out as they have shown in the past that they put a lot into key wins.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So, when Alabama was the defending champion

Oct 1, 2017, 2:29 PM

they were always #1 at the beginning of the next season. The reasoning was always that they were the champs until someone defeated them. So...

Re: So, when Alabama was the defending champion

Oct 1, 2017, 2:54 PM

I don't think the reason was always that they were the defending champions. I think it's simply due to the reputation they have built over the last 10 years or so. They have won what, 3 or 4 titles in that time period, and are almost always near the top by the end of the season. Clemson is starting to build that same sort of reputation, but it takes more than a couple years to earn that sort of respect. I'll put it this way, if someone put a gun to your head prior to the season starting and told you that you have to pick the team that wins the national championship in the upcoming season or else you die, I think most people would take Bama as the safest bet.

Re: Who has Bama beat

Who is the real #1 team in the Nation will eventually be settled on the field...so relax. As long as we remain in the top 4, we will have our chance to prove that the Tigers are still #1.
