Just another prime example of what makes cbbs tenure so frustrating for a lot of Clemson fans. The inconsistency from game to game is maddening....Really bad one night, great the next.
Hopefully we can turn the corner, but if history tells us anything...

frustration. We never know whether we are going to get Dr. Jekyll or MRS Hyde. Exact same scenario that used to be the case with Tommy Bowdens football teams. And, much like Bowden, Brad Brownell seems to do just enough year after year to hang on for another year. Until he doesn't.

I agree. It feels too much like the TB football years. We beat a FSU on the road on prime time TV to only lose to a Duke or WF at home.

04 Beat Miami on the road and lose to Duke the next week.
06 Beat FSU on the road, finish the year with a lose to Maryland, NC State and USuCk all at home.
07 Beat FSU then lose to GT when were ranked in the top 15.

Funny...you said beat FSU on the road and lose to Duke or Wake. That never happened. Just fact checking you, since you're determined to make the comparison be...factual, even though, as Judge Keller said, they have absolutely no correlation to each other.

What’s inconsistent?
We gave up 52 tonight.
The last three, all losses, we gave up 61, 51 and 56.
Where do you find inconsistency in that?
Most basketball coaches will tell you that you win far more with consistent defense than with consistent offense—because consistent offense is an impossible goal. Ask a very deep, tall, veteran great-shooting Louisville team how consistent they were tonight.
But you keep looking for that Pot o’ Gold, brother, if it makes you happy.

No 12-12 does not show inconsistencies
You have to look at the games
Pts each game
Shot % echvgame
3pt % each game
FT% each game
Turnovers each game
Rebounds each game
If the numbers are steady, consistent play exists
If the are up and down, then there is inconsistency

The numbers aren't steady. We shot ft's, fg's, and 3pt shots, at a higher % in this game. Hence the dominating win.

Our offense is inconsistent, shooting %, FT % etc and at times our defense looks lost like against Virginia who is a terrible offensive team and Wake.

Good point RW43. A lot of folks don't realize that we are VERY consistent with our defensive effort. We also show grit in every game. The inconsistency generally comes on the offensive side where there are nights we cannot hit anything. Then there are nights where we hit 50% of our three pointers.
It looks like that on some nights everyone is making three pointers and free throws and on some nights virtually no one is hitting anything.
I suppose one can blame the bad shooting on the coach; on nights we are not shooting well, it seems like we don't have a Plan B. Part of that is probably because we just don't have much of an inside game with Simms being our best player there. And there are nights when he struggles inside.
BB just needs to recruit better shooters or develop them. Give him a Gabe on the team every year and I believe he can take you to the NCAA almost every year. Dawes can become that kind of player - someone who produces in every game - once he gets more confidant in his shot.

It's college basketball. It's a game of runs. All college basketball teams are streaky. No team shoots lights out every night.
When you are in the middle of the pack in the ACC you can beat a Duke and then lose to a Wake Forest.

underclassmen are known for their consistency. Would you rather us just be consistently bad? Sometimes shots just don’t fall, it happens, does that make us inconsistent?, no it makes us like every team in america. It’d be one thing if we weren’t giving any effort one night, and then the next night you’re playing really hard, but I don’t think that’s the case here, in the UVA game I felt we played hard, but couldn’t win a close game, same goes with the Notre Dame game. And quite honestly that’s been the story with us the whole year, sure there have been games where we didn’t give it our best effort, Louisville, Wake Forest, and probably a bad second half early in the season against FSU. But overall it’s been a young team who was projected to be very bad in the ACC this year, actually exceed expectations with plenty more to prove.

This isn't college football where there is typically at least 1 undefeated team at the end of the regular season, if not several.
College basketball is a long season. In contrast to football, there are a lot of good teams outside the top 25 that can beat a ranked team.
A quick glance at the top 25 reveals many teams that have been inconsistent and lost games they shouldn't.
I suspect that you're going to respond by saying that we are more inconsistent that most teams. I suppose that depends on who you are comparing us to, and what you feel is an acceptable number of losses to teams you shouldn't lose to. So please, tell us that magic number so we can know when Clemson is meeting your expectations for consistency and when they are not.

When I consider how 'consistent' our consistently critical fans are, I'm thrilled that our basketball team is inconsistent.
At least they're good half the time.
