Feb 7, 2014, 3:51 PM [ in reply to Genesis says otherwise. ]

are saying. They are frustrated that pretty much all he said was "The Bible said this..." I don't believe he said that enough. I thought he tried to "explain" too much. I believe creation by faith, not because I can make sense of it scientifically. Creation is not a science; it is a doctrine.

You love all 3, but believe the same thing the Young Earth Guy does, because I'm pretty sure you can believe in the three things I mentioned or that the earth is 6000 years old. You can't really believe in all of them.

Do like Clemson football?

Feb 7, 2014, 6:32 PM

Do you believe in every single play ever called by Clemson's coaches?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How can you believe in paleontology?

Feb 7, 2014, 7:05 PM

I know you should be able to hold opposing thoughts in your mind, but unless you believe God forgot to mention giant terrible lizards, I just can't see being able to believe in both.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't even know what that means, really.

Feb 7, 2014, 8:51 PM

Do I "believe" in paleontology? As a kid, I obsessed over dinosaurs. When I was five, my Dad let me "teach" his high school class for a few minutes about them. I read every single book in the library about them, including the massive adult books. They are still interesting to me, though I've obviously outgrown the childhood fascination and obsession. I wanted to be a paleontologist until I was probably 9 or 10.

Dinosaurs obviously existed. All the details about when, and where they went...I have no clue. Nor does it bother me.

Feb 7, 2014, 5:02 PM [ in reply to Care to find any of my posts that suggest that?*** ]

Evolution is a key part of biology. If you believe the world is 6,000 years old, then Biology is essentially refuted, so you may as well just replace it with Genesis.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have no problem with public schools teaching about

evolution. Sorry to disappoint?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But you don't believe in it?

Feb 7, 2014, 5:05 PM

Interesting...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't believe in a lot of things the public school system

Feb 7, 2014, 5:08 PM

teaches. Still aced everything. Matters of faith are for parents to teach primarily, and secondarily, churches. Not public schools.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If my children attend public schools, and they probably will

Feb 7, 2014, 5:11 PM

They will have a great effect on what they know. But they will not have any effect on what they believe, if I've done my job properly as a parent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up
