Let’s be honest about something.

Apr 9, 2022, 8:49 PM

Clemson fans did not walk away from this spring game with a lot of question answered.

The only question we got answered is that our Oline is going to be our greatest weakness once again.

The quarterback situation is still up in the air. DJ looked like DJ from last year and Cade looked like what he was supposed to, a guy who’s been on campus for 2 and a half months and is still learning the offense.

The defense looked good, which is a bright spot. Nothing really to comment about there.

My take from the spring game is we probably should be low key worried about what our offense will look like next year. I know it’s still early and a lot of coaching changes but I’m concerned. I would love to hear your thoughts on the spring game.

Take it with a grade of slaw. The offense was playing

without several major weapons, AND was split into two squads. Not nearly the depth there as there is on defense.

Also, it seems to me over the years, Dabo has almost gone out of his way to MAKE it hard on the offenses, with the "special rules" and such in effect for the Spring Game.

Ha Ha, it is amazing when coot fans predict the Tiger season from a fun Spring Game.

I’m not a coot born and raised tiger fan! But I am concerned about the offense. I also didn’t predict the season.

My concern is just like last year, can the offense stay on the field long enough to let the defense catch their breath.

Gosh I agree 100%. Not impressed with DJ despite the fact that they kept saying what a great job he was doing and yet he got beat by a high school graduate first big appearance in death Valley… I hope Dabo will not continue supporting DJ just because he’s a great kid ,he’s not a great quarterback

We may suck next season, but nothing that happened today is

a reliable indicator.

If we still have major issues once all 20 injured players return, and the offensive line has the five best on the field at one time, and the QBs actually have to be tackled to be called “down” then the discussion may be valid.

Let's be honest about something; What did you expect to see? IMO, spring game are nothing more than glorified practice sessions in pads in front of a half filled stadium with supposedly matched squads basically playing touch football.

I didn’t really say anything terrible. I didn’t say that we were going to suck next year. I just said the offense looked a little concerning. It might be different once we get some of those injured guys back. But DJ didn’t really look any different then he did last season. Cade will probably end up being the guy midway through the season. Hope our offense can stay on the field.

I get it man. Some folks hear what they want to hear. Totally agree, looks like we just started right where we left off last season. QB not sure what he’s doing or why he’s doing it and an O line not helping anybody and a defense playing high level. I hope we can find something like last year with the run game to at least develope Cade at game speed, if DJ don’t have it by now, he probably aint gonna, and I think Dabo knows it. Sometimes these O lines can come together quick if everyone stays healthy and the center gets his confidence up.

It’s hard to tell a thing about our skill players with such bland scrimmage play calling. Simple dives and RPOs to the RBs and easy quick out routes to the WRs…it was boring as sh*t to be honest. The only thing that was glaring was that our OL is sh*t yet again and will ruin our entire season..

I’m not sure why our O-Line would be classified as a weakness. We went out and did an exhaustive search for our least productive position on the field over the last 10 years. And in that search, we found the assistant of the guy who lead that position. Not sure how that could go wrong?

What did you expect?

Collin Sadler and Blake Miller should be in high school. Did you expect them to hold up against our defensive line?

Tristan Leigh, Ryan Linthicum, and Marcus Tate are all backups. Did you expect them to hold up against our defensive line?

McFadden and Parks didn’t play. Putnam was the only starter at his position out there. Our Dline feasted on 2nd and 3rd string offensive linemen. Shocker

But it was just a scrimmage so we'll see.

It’s weird that you think the OL question was answered with so many players hurt and the squad split. Is this your first spring game experience?

I thought DJ looked a little better. I was hoping to be blown away by Cade but he just looked good. Hard to comment on line play with injuries and split team. Briningstool looks like he will get a lot of play. Ngata was a practice star as usual. D line was no surprise. Hard to say how the QB will play out but passed on this small sample it’s DJ until he proves otherwise (not really a planned number of games)
