If everybody would just go ahead and chip in and die 0.26%, this mess would be over.

5.05 million cases, 162k deaths

Makes 3.2%.
Claiming .26% is patently false. And dumb.
I think FB is a good guess for where someone would get false and dumb information. Twitter would be another real good guess.

estimated in a lot of ways. Stripping it to documented facts does keep things constant though.
OP had no declaration of estimation, rather posted something as "per the CDC" and that was incorrect.

We talking facts?

Or estimations? Sure there are plenty of positive cases that are undocumented. There are also deaths that are undocumented (no positive test). It probably washes out.
Stick to facts. What OP posted was a very specific number that I can only assume is based on speculation.
What's hard to understand about that?

What the cdc estimates is based on random tests.

To say that total cases is 5 million and that the resulting fatality rate is X is even less fact than the estimate, because everyone, including the cdc, knows the testes # is nowhere near the actual #s. That is what is factual. Again, why is that hard to understand?

I suspect that will greatly change over the next several months. With increased testing we'll discover millions who are asymptomatic, not shedding the virus or shedding very little.
It appears nothing we can do is going to stop it. All we've done is flatten the curve which is causing the duration of the viral spread to elongate on the graph. Imo the lower death rate is mostly attributed to early testing resulting in discovering the disease and being able to treat it in its early stage.
I've said this time and time again, the directive we got when this virus was temp of 103+ degrees, hard cough and at least one more symptoms similar to the flu. That was murder, imo. At no time in my 68 years have I ever heard the words 'Wait until a disease fully develops before you seek medical help.' They murdered thousand of people in NY telling them to wait while intensive care beds empty all across the city and a hospital ship sitting in port less that 20% filled.
