an underdog will beat the "sure thing" ...
ie App State beating Michigan ...
James Madison beating VaTech ...
And that Louisiana team beating Arkansas ...
host of others ....
So we can't take any team for granted

Great point OhWiseOne.
Wish more Clemson fans would understand that we can be beaten on any Saturday( or Thursday or even Friday)and by any team out there, including the Deacs and the Dookies.
After all why do we call the Gamecocks cockie!

with this concept. Teams lose to teams they "should beat" every single Saturday. It gets on my nerves when people talk about how we should just be able to show up and beat people.
Been that way since the beginning of time. We are no exception. Every coach we've ever had has lost their share of games to teams we were "supposed to beat".
We better be ready to play at Duke. They will give everything they have.

You can keep all the swagger, and give me wins.
I want our team to be confident, but not too cocky and lose games that they should blow out.

I think we have started to get that back... Our offense has it's own identity and the defense is starting to collect itself as well. We are week 9 into the season and we have seen two decent performances with our defense. Isn't that what you want to see? A team get better as the season goes along? I believe this defense will continue to improve and I love seeing our coaches coach our guys up on the sidelines too.

I don't. While our performance against Va.Tech was admirable,Wakes offense sucks!
I think we will know more after Duke, Maryland and State.
If we are better by then,the coots will be a much better game.

jerseys. Was Wake "LOWF" when they won the ACC in 2006? Is Duke the typical old 1-11 Duke team this year? No and No.
The real bottom feeders in the ACC this year are UVA and BC.
I'm not saying it wouldn't be embarrassing to lose to Duke this year, but it's not because they are Duke. It's because we are Clemson and we need to be at a point where we can go on the road and beat middle-of-the-pack ACC teams.

by "swagger" I mean we have to be confident AND perform. We have to be confident that we will beat any given opponant and go out and do it. WE lost our "swagger" during th Ken Hatfield/Bobbi Robinson era and never got it back. Visitors do not dread coming into Death Valley like they once did. They come in knowing that they have a good chance for a W.
To me, there is a difference between swagger and cocky...
