We endured enough under Tommy Bowden don’t ever want us to “suck” again

Sep 6, 2021, 11:07 PM

No way we go back to those Days again.

I endured a Peach Bowl win as the best season Coach TB could give us when I was a student and we still weren’t
Top 10 that year.

I just don’t see the drop off that ESPN is saying might happen after just 1 loss to a Top 5 opponent.

Are they expecting us to return to Coach TB days again ?!?

At some point it will happen

It's just the way of college football.

Tommy Bowden? You should have been around when Tommy West was the coach.

You should have been around when Red Parker was the coach.

5 wins in two years. LOL

That Tommy West 3-8 season is burned into my memory. It feels worse than the others since Danny Ford had been so successful just prior to the West era.

My freshman year! Oy, that was a tough year. Also the same year after Barnes had left. I had been excited, as my high school won ALL of 5 games over 4 years, but I was going to Clemson, a football school!

Between West's last year and Tommy's first, that was a rough few years. But happy memories too! Nothing beats marching down the hill looking over the stadium for the first time.

I still remember not being able to hear myself play Tiger Rag as the team came down the hill of the USuC game. And the shivers down my spin with the crowd being so loud! Still think of when the goal post was taken down and ended up in the reflection pond. Ha, good times!

when Virginia Tech came to town. It was painfully obvious then that Tommy West was in way over his head. We were so outclassed that day on the field.

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. It took all of the joy out of CFB.

When did Cola win a Peach bowl? Last I remember 11 years ago the Noles waxed your chickens.

1969, so you don’t have to google it, coot.

I was AT the Peach Bowl in Atlanta when we beat Tennessee : the highlight and pinnacle of Tommy Bowden’s career.

That offense the other night looked like a Tommy Bowden offense that “sucked” just as bad.

Sep 6, 2021, 11:38 PM

It's not a question of returning to the days of Tommy Bowden but it is a question of;
1)A schedule that does not have a top 10 opponent other than Georgia .We lost to Georgia.
2) a Conference so bad that the only 3 teams ranked in the top 25 all lost and all on the opening weekend.
3) A conference that could possibly have 2 teams in the CFP if Georgia goes undefeated yet loses the SECCG to Alabama. See 1)
4)What do you do with Notre Dame if they go undefeated. Do they get knocked out in favor of a one loss Clemson? Very unlikely.
So the problem that ESPN says might happen is not the result of just 1 loss to a top 5 opponent, but it is the result of that opponent being Georgia.

Been to Clemson games since Frank's last season. Hootie was by far the worst.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We were good (not great) under Bowden. We have certainly

Sep 11, 2021, 7:31 AM

sucked though, like end of Hatfield and West. But we've been even worse than that back prior to Pell. If Bowden is your "bad" reference point, you have it made!
