give this gripe a bump.
Our punter is ####### terrible. Our special teams in general are just meh, with the exception of BT Potter (who as I've said is hands down the best player on our team).
We have, what, 12,000 kids on campus? And that's the best dadgum punter we can find on campus? Don't we have a playoff caliber soccer team? Good lord, find a scrub that didn't make the cut and put a thin facemasked helmet on his ### and say kick ball -----> that way.
Unacceptable to be this high caliber of a program and have this horrific of a looking special teams.

In my fit of depressed rage, I forgot a major silver lining from Saturday.
DJ can ####### punt. He should our punter. Case closed.
I feel like with legit 3 months of practice, he could be an NFL punter.

Could be way off here, but he avg 45 yds on Saturday and got one inside at 1 yd line.
What's terrible is the punt return. If the punter averages 50 yds, we line up 45 yds and then he punts it 60 yards. So every punt, the returner has to run backwards 10-15 yards every play. Then he watches it fall and roll 10-15 more yards.

Bradley Pinion got drafted. As a punter.
Like, a team has 7 picks to add people to their rosters coming from college. One of them said, yup, this guy's so good we are going to spend a draft pick on him, despite getting maybe 6 snaps a game.

we also NEVER put any kind of pressure on the opposing punter. They stand back there and boom it like they are at practice with no worries about getting blocked.

still not great but I don't think he's as bad as you do.
BTW, SC has the #1 special teams in the nation by quite a bit according to this.

I had high hopes when the Colquitt kid got on campus a few years ago (relative of the UT Colquitt punter, one of the best in the game) but it seems he majored in keg beer and barely sniffed the field.

I saw Gardocki boom a 64 yard+ one way back when that held the record at that point. I feel like it may have been surpassed in the mid 20-teens.

Why, for a couple years now, do our punt returners happily field punts on the five yard line, but watch them fall at the 17 and roll to the 2? It's like we are terrified of a fair catch.
