We could have beat either team last night if...

Jan 11, 2022, 7:56 AM

1. If we had a healthy D. To have had a healthy D, we needed a better offense to where our D didn't need to play for the game in the last few minutes of almost every game.
2. A mobile QB. A DW or even TL would have torn either team up.
3. A stationary QB, but the OL with upgrades and solid receivers like HR or A Rogers. Still would need a breakout WR superstar.

I think we are close but that only works in horseshoes and hand grenades. I won't say congrats, but good job to the dawgs.

You have a short memory. We barely beat Ga. Tech and Boston College.

But you may be right. If we had a dominant OL and a better QB and better play calling and if no one got hurt and no one transferred and if the WRs had been better coached to block and not drop passes, we probably would have been in the mix.

It is, and it will always be very hard to prove a statement like that without lining up, and playing the teams that you speak of like we did in 2016-2018. My opinion would suggest that both of our Championship teams would have beaten the two teams that played last night, especially if we would have been able to rest our team playing a playoff team as weak as UGA, and Bama played in the playoffs. ESECPN/Disney money has made sure that the rankings were arranged so that Clemson always had to play the better team in the playoffs in all Four title games that we played in, and YES, I absolute believe every word of my claim!!!

My late father always taught us

Jan 11, 2022, 8:13 AM

That “if only” is a statement used by losers. You never hear a champion saying “if only.” Can we please stop talking like losers and use the phrase he taught me to use when I lost…. “What if I…”

That phrase “what if” makes you think about the future. The phrase “if only” focuses on the past. Stop with all the loser mentality. Our Tigers were not good enough to beat EITHER of those teams last night and that’s what matters. But what if we strengthen our OL? What if Cade is as advertised? What if the recent promotions and hires turn out to be better than who we had before? Those are the things worth talking about.

I didn’t read “if only” anywhere in that post

you're an idiot... his whole post was about what ifs.... even if he didn't' say it.... it's a mindset, which clearly you don't have...

sorry, correction...

Jan 11, 2022, 1:10 PM

the post was about "If only"... a healthier approach is "what if."

A chance to play Georgia?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We didn't have the roster this year........

Jan 11, 2022, 10:07 AM

Defense? yes

Offense? not even close. We weren't just "a QB away" from having a national title team. Our WRs are not even close to what we had in 2015-2018. Our playcalling/creativity has been very pedestrian since 2018. Obviously QB is an issue. Our Oline wasn't good enough. We are missing some big pieces on offense right now.

I'm not sure how close we are.....that's all TBD:
-Oline MUST improve
-WR skill must be upgraded
-QB has to be mobile and accurate
-Streeter HAS to bring something a little different than TE.

Just a better QB.

Jan 11, 2022, 10:12 AM

all the time.

"Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" is just another form of Sour Grapes.

The Dawgs were the only team that did what they had to do, when they had to do it, in the final analysis.

As Roman Reigns would say: ACKNOWLEDGE THEM!

It shouldn't be that hard to let them have this one, it only happens twice as often as Halley's Comet going by.

To quote the late Larry Munson the Tigers "are a million miles away from it". Top shelf DL line until Bresee and Davis were hurt. Solid at RB and Corner. Past that just average or worse. Did you not watch the GA Tech, Cuse, LVille, NC State, Pitt, etc. Geez. Lucky to finish were we did.
