We beat BAMA by 28 points in 2018... welcome to the top

it happens with the most talented and favored teams. We had the injury bug and played against a team that practiced and focused on playing us all year long. We came in less prepared to beat them. You can't do that against a top 5 program. They had a top QB who had all his weapons- while TL had 3 5*'s banged up in one way or another behind a line that graduated 4 last year. It makes sense- CLEMSON, BAMA, and sometimes OSU, can explode on you with all the right pieces at any moment, and we will too on somebody else, like we did against OSU 4 straight times. It was our turn to grow up and be a dynasty blue blood. We(fan base included) must learn and adjust from this experience. If we are committed to not taking players via transfer, then we will have to not miss on or lose and then develop all of our recruits who stay. We will be solid culturally and as a program for years to come that way but if we miss, or lose transfers and get injured, there will be games/years like this one. We are a dynasty, get used to breathing the rare air which may mean losing on the mountaintop, on the biggest stages, like our fellow big boy programs. We would have beat ND in south bend if we had more depth, well we had some off recruiting and some busts at just the wrong time and the stars aligned for ND- who had to beat us in double overtime. Finally, give our coach time to grow too. Saban was committed to a certain O vs D philosophy and WE made him have to change. We are here to stay in top 3 or 4 IMHO, but with the teams we are competing with at this level, we cannot win every time and we will not match them every time. Go Tigers!!!

Well said. Well said. Saban didn't want to change. OSU didn't want to change traditional b1g Nebraska type teams 3 yards and a cloud of dust but they did. As another poster laid out @hillrock and ( tolstoy? I know that's wrong) but we missed and had busts in the 17, 18, and 19 cycles and it caught up to us. As you said, it's going to happen.

HB, All In starts with recruiting. It’s a personal and professional commitment. Our staff does amazing developing talent and attracting natural talent. Always have. Missing some, critical by position and need be derned comes with this philosophy.

I’m good with winning beyond the end zones even if we lose when we should win here and there.

What happened in 2018 had no bearing on what happened Friday night, not being prepared takes me back to the Tommy Bowden days, beating OSU 4 straight times is a moot point, if you have an issue with the transfer portals, call the Athletic Dept. We are not a dynasty, but rather a top 5 program
(Bama is not a dynasty either). You can not say for certain that we would have beaten Notre Dame in South Bend. Notre Dame was not a bad team this year either. Stars don't align Our coaching staff does not need to grow. They are as good as any in the country.
We will be good, but if the conference improves ,which it must, we could lose that 1-4 slot in the playoffs.
No body expects you(us) to win every year. Even Bama doesn't win every year.
But when you get throughly dominated, and embarrassed 2 years in a row, you need to start looking at the reasons why, and not try to spin what happened in 2018 when the stars aligned, OOPS!
