We are victims of our own connected culture

Oct 27, 2022, 10:45 AM

We live in the days of instant access to news and analysis. That means someone has to constantly be producing new content for us to consume. That has resulted in less responsible journalism. There is far more editorializing than reporting. We demand to be constantly informed and entertained. Thus, we have a plethora of content producers such as Heather Dinich, Joel Klatt, etc. Dinich and Klatt write, blog, vlog, whatever their format about nothing but college football. Every day, multiple times a day they have to produce something new. Ya'll their ain't that much information that is new, verified, well thought out, and well articulated about college football that needs to be said. But, we keep, reading, watching, and listening. They are going to keep producing because we are going to keep on consuming. Throw in Paul Finebaum, David Pollack, Mark Richt, about twenty more ESPN suits, some FOX guys and we are drowning in drivel. Roll back the clock to 1985 when social media didn't give voice to a herd of not very talented writers and not one person I have named in this post would have a job. They just aren't that good.

With those ears, he would be in high demand for circus sideshows.

Try television, both main stream networks and especially PBS. Listening to people talking about sports only leads to frustration and discontent and life itself has more than enough of that.

They also use advanced Algorithms based on our past internet history. Then they push articles they know we will click on.
