Wouldn’t it be something if Max chooses Clemson and competes with DJ and Cade for the starting spot. That’d completely flip our fortune in the QB room.

Maybe so but his TD to INT ratio is pretty ###### good...

He is #110 player in the country. We can do better getting a high school player.

Do you have any idea what you’re even trying to say?
Jake Johnson is the #110 overall player (Rivals) in his recruiting class and arguably the top right end. Max Johnson would be a valuable addition as a player with starting experience, considering we currently have exactly one scholarship QB on the roster.

Since we're about to dive into the Portal Pool, why not try for a package deal?
Max for the portal. Jake for signing day. J.Sapp will still hopefully stay with his commitment.
Seems like we've got more room than previously expected to bring in new players.

FWIW, we have nearly 9 TE's on scholarship...

A position from which we rarely see much production. We are Sapp's only power 5 offer, he's a legacy-

I don't honestly know what we think about TE's in our offense.
However, IMO you need at least 3 that can be put in the game. Two that can block that don't have hands of stone, and one that can no-shit catch but can block well enough to not make it obvious that the only reason that they are in the game is to be the #1 pass target. YOu mix and match the three and then you use them all on occasion in a heavy package.
Again I haven't seen anything that says we care about TE blocking as of late but so much stuff is taken away from your offense if you don't insist on your TEs be hard-nosed blockers.

Can any of them block and catch the ball besides Davis Allen?

#9 is a good player. He needs to add a little weight, but from a receiver standpoint, he's every bit of a pass catcher as Allen. I personally would love the addition of Max Johnson, lefty, tough, good mobility, and seems to be a real cerebral QB. DJ needs to be pushed, and it would give Cade Klubinek a chance to get use to the speed of the college game.

This might be the hottest take all day. We have three scholarship tight ends. One is a steady, though not outstanding, ACC tight end. One is a rising sophomore with promise as a receiver who’s about 35 lbs too light to block effectively in-line. And one is a reasonably capable if somewhat undersized ACC backup who struggled with drops this year.
That’s not stacked.
