Poor coaches ... these coaches recruited the players, coached the players, and the team was 10 - 2.
The loss on Saturday was to a middle-of-the-road (not awful, but medium) opponent where we played our worst game of the year, they played their best game (considering that we actually have a defense, whereas Tennessee has a bunch of matadors), and we lost by 1 point.

How many of those teams were in the playoffs two years ago, pay their head coach over $10 million a year, have top 5 recruiting classes, and among the best if not the best facilities in college football?

I think Dabo is just to afraid to step on a recruit that he pulls from high schools toes by bringing a guy in for a year or two to take his spot.. I understand being loyal but transfer portal isn’t affecting Bama or Georgia or Ohio St recruiting.. but losing will. If Dabo doesn’t start doing what need to be done to win the recruits will easily go the other way. We lose to many players to transfer portal to not replace them via portal.. not enough time to recruit kids out of high school to feel spots you just found out were leaving

Look who else has two losses this year. None other than Bama. So I guess it would be fair to say the portal hasn't helped them in the same manner that not using it has hurt us.

Refusing to use the portal - I think that's Dabo attempting to be "fair" to the kids he's recruited.
"You've committed to me, so I'm committed to you" - doesn't allow for - "unless I find somebody better outside the team".

It is Dabo’s philosophy of protecting the program, and everything the recent (12 or so years) success was built upon.
I don’t know if it’s gonna work out or not, but I do respect him for it.
Now…refusing to pull DJ does have a “we got who we got” feel to it.

A) Dabo has not refused to use the portal. In fact, he has picked up a QB and discussed publicly missing on an OL.
B) Who is currently in the portal that we should take, who should they replace, and why? No one has provided an answer to that question. The reason why they haven't is because they have no idea who is in the portal, or even how to look that info up. They just think it's full of great talent that our staff refuses to consider, even though most of the portal talent is dying to come to Clemson.
Don't get me wrong, I'm cool with using the portal, but some of the posters here should be embarrassed by the misinformation they are putting out there. Google is easy and free.

who stands to get any meaningful playing time.
If you want to pat Dabo on the back for “using the portal” to get a 3rd-4th string QB who has almost no shot of playing, or taking a cursory glance at the portal for an offensive lineman that never happened, that’s fine. But for all intents and purposes, Dabo hasn’t used the portal.

But, I will give you the opportunity to post a list of any players we should get/have gotten from the portal who would get/have gotten meaningful playing time, reasons why we did/did not recruit them out of high school, and who they should replace/should have replaced...

Dynasties are built by integrating great recruits into great programs. Recruiting in 2022 now means utilizing the portal as well. The “Clemson Man” concept ain’t going to cut it.

Short answer is yes. Do carpenters still use the same tools they did 70 years ago? Or has technology moved that forward? Same analogy, you use the tools that are available to you to make your job at least probable of having better success. Dabo is stuck in the corner now - he should just man up, admit his mistake, use the portal, and move forward.
