WCCP Signal

Aug 3, 2018, 8:17 AM

Why hasn't WCCP been broadcasting ? It's not much but it's all we have ? Poor signal, hosts don't really appreciate the listeners.... maybe if Dabo knew he could spearhead some improvements ??? I still think it's crazy that the signal is so poor that I can't listen in Spartanburg without using the App. Just an observation, again, its all we have. I'd love to proud of the flagship station. It has potential.

Some things you don't appreciate until it's gone. I've been

a basher or CCP on more than one occasion and I still think they miss the forest for the trees all too often talking about the NBA even out of season instead of our second ranked college football team and all the expectations and excitement there.

Nevertheless, were we to lose it I am among those who would really miss it just because occasionally they do nail it and do some great interviews and focus on Clemson and other sports. I like Ben for instance but I was shocked he brought Korncoot's program on the air but there is a lot more great things about Ben than bad for sure!

Qualk is pretty good but they inevitably keep getting pulled down that NBA rabbit hole. A lot of it is because I think it is the only sport his co-host still feels comfortable discussing so she keeps going back to it over and over. Nevertheless when they are talking about the in-season Clemson sports or other local sports they are very good in my opinion. But that constant NBA talk especially during the off-season... ugh...

I like Walt ok and much better than I used to. He stays on topic better than any of them. I like Mickey too and have for a long time.

So to finally wrap this up, as bad as it is, it's better than nothing but it is far from being as good as it has been in the past. I really miss Roy who was the best by far and deserves the chance he's getting now I just miss him and wish he could do his show from a remote location or something. He was really good.

I miss Qualk's former co-host and talk to him on Twitter every once in a while. He's a great guy and he kept Qualk on topic! Still Qualk has a lot of potential and if he sticks with it he will be a good one one day imo.

I also agree they need a stronger signal even though it's stronger than it used to be by far. A lot of people don't know how far that station has come under Ben's management and I'm not crazy about his co-host's show by the way as I think Clemson's flagship station should have Clemson fans or grads running the show. I could be wrong about him. He's new so I'll give him a pass for now.

I've listened to WCCP off and on since I first came to Clemson in 2005. Lately, I've been able to listen more often, and I think the Pressbox with Brad Senkiw is some of the worst radio I have ever heard. The guys voice just grates on me, and he doesn't provide valuable insight on anything. Unfortunately, I still listen to it sometimes, just to make me appreciate the other shows even more.

gets better including his love for Clemson. I think national networks like ESPN should primarily be unbiased but I expect a school's flagship station to show demonstrate a little local flavor for the home team as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

When they changed from 104.9 to 105.5, they said their signal strength would be stronger.

It definitely starts fading away around mile marker 56 on 85N like it always did. Funny thing is, I can pickup 104.9 just short of Gaffney now.

Signal pattern and strength are set by the FCC.

Yes, this is true. But WCCP could have made a move to
a better signal, say 99.1, but chose a "slightly" better
frequency instead of a much better frequency. In reality,
it' all about money.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”
