Watson and his arm Sleeves

Sep 21, 2015, 1:53 PM

Can someone explain why he is wearing these compression arm sleeves this year. I notices he did not wear last year at FSU.
This year against App St. he wore them in first QTR (we struggled) then he took them off and threw 3 TDS.

Then they appeared again last Thursday...

Is this "swag" or do they serve a purpose.

My limited experience playing football leads me to believe that he uses them to partially protect his arms. Grass burns are a lot like carpet burns. They're not fun. Neither is having a 300 lb defensive lineman's plastic helmet (with sharp edges) rub up against you at full force. Not to mention the arms are one of the most exposed parts of the body when running and holding onto a football and really are the only parts of the body that do not have some sort of protection (except the lower legs).

And they keep the arms warn and loose....helps to prevent injury.

It's the same reason you see baseball pitchers with their throwing arm in a jacket while in the dugout.
Keeps the arm warm and loose.

Most of the time think they are for show more than anything. But Louisvilles field is turf. And that mess hurts if you get thrown down on it. So that is my guess why he kept them on.

He had three turn burns that I could see on one of his sleeves.
