a Clemson player was voted ACC POY JUST ONCE. That was Horace Grant (1986/87).

An NC State player has been selected 8 times (three of which were David Thompson) while a UNCheat player has been selected 15 times. Duke leads the league in selections with 18.

Was there ever a more fun player and team to watch

than David Thompson and his NC State teammates Towe and Burleson. I was pretty young in the early/mid 70s when they played but I still remember it vividly, little guy Towe running the ball up the court and feeding to Thompson on the alley-oop.

Thompson's leaping ability was incredible. Too bad they couldn't dunk back then. I will always consider David Thompson one of the greatest athletes I've ever seen. Too bad drugs and an injury
derailed his NBA career too soon. He could have had a better career than Jordan or James.
