Watch Renfrow's catch; there's no pick or rub

The guy that eventually tackles him was racing back to cover a fade. Cost him 5 or 6 steps back to Hunter, and he was way too late. LOS/OPI debate is mute. Give up on it, Bamatites. We kicked your ####.

Is Bama still talking about this? Dang get a grip Bama. This has been discussed ad nauseam. All experts agree that final play, when executed properly, which we did, was a legal play. The only possible penalty was the defensive player engaging contact with Scott and throwing him to the ground.
Plus previous play defensive penalty on guy guarding MW.
Plus multiple targeting calls by Bama that were not called.
Multiple holding penalties on Bama not called.
Clemson was the better team night. Sorry to disappoint.
Drop the mic! Boom!
NATTY!!!!

Holding on every long run. including the run by hurt. It should have been called back. We should have just run out the clock. If you just watch their long runs ,

No pick. The Alabama DB was anticipating a run by Watson to the corner and pulled Scott down to eliminate a blocker.

First time I've heard that and make sense. I thought it was just intentional PI to run out the clock. Btw... Watched it again last night and there's no way DW4 doesn't get in the end zone if he runs.

I wouldn't say "racing back" - in fact the defender stumbled

on his first step to the left as Renfrow cut outside -
Renfrow had leverage on his DB to the outside
even before Scott actually engaged his defender.
With DW throwing, the pass was a completion with or without the rub.

The fact is it wasn't a pick because the DB covering Renfrow was in fact never touched because the DB covering Scott engaged him and actually got in the way. If they had been in zone it would be a different discussion.
Similar thing happened on the other rub play with Legget.

Renfrow's defender had nothing to do with it being a pick. The pick/rub would have been by Scott, but once his defender engaged, wrapped him up, and pulled him down, that negates it being an interference by the offense...thus, not a pick.

I have the game recorded and watched that play at least 20

times...step through the play one frame at a time...
Scott the wide out...Renfrow in the slot...ball snapped...Watson rolls to the right...Scott takes a step towards the middle of the field...ball still in Watson's hands...DB wraps his arms around Scott (D-holding right there and no flag)...Watson still moving to the right...DB throws Scott to the ground (not a BB suplex but holding for sure...no flag)...DB covering Renfro has to get around 2 players and takes several steps toward the back of the EZ...he is never touched...no pick occured...before the DB can recover Renfrow has cleared the traffic and is wide open...throw right between the 1 and 3...catch...TD...Nat Championship

I would not say we kicked their ####. We made one more play

than them at the very end of the game. There was a lot of #### kicking going on throughout the game on both sides. A true epic for the ages. Here's hoping for Part III next year, and may the Tigers win the rubber match!
