Defensive adjustments = proof BV is coachin

2nd half defense is better than 1st half in every game... gameplan not just what happens on the field

Actually in the 1st half the players were in position to...

make plays but just didn't execute. Last season the defense was always out of position. This season the defense are in place to make good plays, yet they don't hustle to the ball. A lot of GT's 8 yard plus plays could have been held to a loss of yards or a minimum of a 3 yard gain. Tevin Washington's longest run was a prime example of this, we had 3 players that could have tackled him for only a 3 yard gain. Yet they didn't hustle and Washington picked up 43.

point for both of you!

i agree that BV is making adjustments at half. yesterday we virtually eliminated the QB run in the 2nd half.

with that said, if we had some guys that could just tackle the game would never have been close. i thought that was some of the best assignment football we have played against GT in several years. our guys were so close to shutting that thing down for the entire game.

BV is a good coach, contrary to what the minority of followers on TNet seem to think. Right now he is managing to put a band-aid on for every game. he knows that our offense has enough firepower to win games for us if he can just get D to somewhat contain the other team.

next year this defense will be much improved.

He Is Not Afraid To Give Someone Else A Chance....

Oct 7, 2012, 9:26 AM

If the "starter" is not performing.... one of the commentators said that some of the "subs", while maybe not as "athletic", "want it more". Defense is all about aggression and hitting people... doesn't matter if you can run a 4.4 40 yet can't tackle, won't hit, are scared....

exactly, we have been in position to be good on defense...

Oct 7, 2012, 9:31 AM

yet there seems to be a lack of hustle with some of the defensive players.

Was it me or was Barnes more effective than Goodman?

Oct 7, 2012, 9:42 AM

Seems to me he did a real good job of playing assignment football and getting penetration....

Goodman has not gotten off the ball all year and he getting push around. Barnes i thought played well also. Happy to see him getting more playing time.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

that was due to lack of hustle, not scheme***

Shuey took over for him late in the game.

Oct 7, 2012, 9:40 AM

I think Anthony was just whiffing on some of the outside runs... taking bad angles and not sticking with the pitch back. The safety was a direct result of Shuey keying on the guy getting the pitch. Anthony was being indecisive trying to cover two guys at once.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Anthony was hurt, he was limping a lot of the game...

Oct 7, 2012, 9:54 AM

Anthony has played good so far this year. Anthony was hurt and had to go out, and Shuey stepped up and took care of business.

Saw the same thing I don't know if his responsibility was the quarterback or the pitch man but he seem often hesistant. Also he seems all year to get caught up in the wash inside to often and can't make plays outside the tackles
