Cult eh?

See I thought a cult would be for a fanbase with a team that could NOT succeed.... like USuCk...

and still has a case of the red a$$ from all of the Clemson beatdowns.

An OcryO State fan referring to ANY OTHER TEAM as "a cult" is the epitome of hypocrisy.

Clemson is still living rent free right between their ears.

I'd be curious what makes our devotion to our head coach

Jul 18, 2022, 9:42 AM

different than other people's.

One thing might be that our coach seems to constantly be under fire for positions he takes courageously and individually. Of course, when other coaches start to say the same thing, suddenly it's a reasonable position.

It could be that, when the sports media tells us he's made a bad choice, it turns out great for us time and again. Like his recruiting philosophy, his hiring practices, his culture.

But seriously, I'd like to hear what action or stance Dabo has done or taken that we supported that makes us unreasonable relative to the rest of college football fandom. And not a hypothetical "If Dabo told you that the sky was purple, you'd believe it!" type nonsense.

I would say that it's because some of our fans

Jul 18, 2022, 12:45 PM

can't seem to have any semblance of objectivity when it comes to him. To them, he's always right and can't possibly be wrong. Some believe that he can never be questioned or doubted.

It's one thing to admire him and appreciate the phenomenal job he's done at Clemson. It's great to view him as an outstanding coach and leader. But he is still human, and some people seem to forget that.

"All those 'Fire Brownell' guys can kiss it." -Joseph Girard III

"Everybody needs to know that Coach Brownell is arguably the best coach to come through Clemson." -PJ Hall

I get that you think that and I know that frustrates you.

Jul 18, 2022, 12:54 PM

Honestly, a head coach with the level of success he has had (and you can count them actively coaching in D1 football on two fingers), coupled with both unique approach to college football and his off-the-field actions would...and I would argue should...foster significant fan support and loyalty. But I think you'll find that with any head coach that has any success. Ryan Day may be a doofus to us, but you'll find Buckeyes that will support him unquestionably.

Bottom line, we're no different than any other fan base when it comes to coach support. We just happen to have a uniquely great coach. We had plenty of people who constantly questioned previous coaches...Bowden, West...obviously people hated Hatfield. The fans are still the same but we have a head coach who has earned our support and the benefit of the doubt.

That's ridiculous.

Jul 18, 2022, 3:13 PM [ in reply to I would say that it's because some of our fans ]

A) you are the most delusional basketball fan on this board, at a minimum. Your obvious infatuation with the head coach is beyond bizarre. You obsess over him despite mediocre results. You're a cult of one.

B) Clemson football fans are some of the more passionate and wiser fanbases around, complimented by most everyone who meets us, but we are no different in passion than any other fanbase. Regardless, there is no one who suggests Dabo can't be questioned, and what do you even mean by saying some dont see him as "human"?

Your attempt at categorizing the entire Clemson fanbase based on these false premises has failed. You just keep trying and trying to drag down the football program to basketball's level. You fail over and over, yet you just keep spewing the same defeated nonsense.

Bama is perhaps the most passionate fanbase in America and they love Saban. Are they a cult? UGA fans love Smart. Ohio State loves Ryan Day. Maybe all serious college football programs are like cults? What make us any different?

These alleged journalists are idiots.

sad one fanbase can be... I guess DAbo continues to haunt their dreams. They're the most insecure fans in the country. We beat Bama twice and Bama fans are like good game, ya'll gotta good qb down there.. bc bama knows they'll be back and knows that you gotta be good to beat them.. OHio State is in total disbelief and in constant denial. Its really funny. I knew this guy had to be a buckeye and yep.

Most of them are probably also lifelong Browns fans, hence the insecurity.

“Clemson fans would drink any kool aid Dabo tells them to.".

That’s because Dabo has earned our trust. OH ST fans are just jealous they couldn’t get there with Urban Meyer and now they have the top whiner with Cryan Day and a culture that just seems to promote scandal after scandal. No surprise they are jealous of what we have with Dabo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Cult eh?

Jul 18, 2022, 12:48 PM

It’s all based in the fact that we win and continue too. They are jealous of our success and great culture. Our coach is a good Christian man and that also kills them. They only hate us because they ain’t us! Nobody hates a losing team.

If this came from OSU (I haven't clicked on the link), the origins of it are UofSC fans. I've seen the chickens circulating numerous tweets that Clemson is a cult. OSU fans seem more than happy to spread the nonsense.

These Tools keep coming up with new ways to insult Clemson,

Jul 18, 2022, 12:14 PM

just because they know some of our fanbase will be triggered, and unable to resist responses which said Tool can then post on their social media platform.

I wish I could say ignore them and they will go away. But, they won't, even if you do ignore them. Try to ignore them anyway.

even when you do ignore them they go out of their way to stick their beaks into posts from Clemson athletics or any kind of post about Clemson.

A lot of people are Dabo haters. They don't like conservative viewpoints and they don't like Christians. This is the reason for a lot of this anti Daboism. That's a Cult too maybe?

definitely its own religion/theology. Its funny to see "progressive intellectuals" and political pundits scoff at biblical theology being taken seriously in the public forum yet will argue for and about such trivial nonsense as questioning the settled science of gender. And you're telling me you're not apart of another organized faith...? How much faith do you have to have to go along with some of this stuff? They're so smart that they've went full circle into being idiots.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jul 18, 2022, 3:01 PM

We're a passionate fanbase? That we like winning? That we like our coach? If so, there are dozens of "cult" fanbases in the country. Is being a passionate fanbase a bad thing? I don't get it?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is a reporter or pundit trying to understand and self-rationalize how a football program outside of the SEC or B1G can win and win big. Must be a cult?

Re: Cult eh?

Jul 19, 2022, 9:16 AM

Texas A&M Aggy is definitely a cult. They have a fish camp ever summer and brain wash all new students to absolutely and completely hate the University of Texas only they can’t say UT, it has to be backwards as in ‘TU’. But, it’s never capitalized and becomes’tu’, it’s a level of hatred a normal man can’t understand. It’s like Texas is the infidel and they are the Muslims. Really odd people and I don’t think Clemis anywhere near that, if so, then I’m outta here immediately.
