We need DTs more than DEs. We lose just about everyone unless Dex returns for another season.

Our country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any America because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.

Johnson is a DT..

Cash and Ruke both most likely grow into DT's as well. We are also in the mix for Tyler Davis (top four) and Jaden McKenzie. Te will most likely end up with 6 DL and 4 of which will play inside.. I see Ruke being like CW and being versatile enough to play both.

Problem is...

You're right, several of those guys probably grow into Def tackles.
But they are more than likely guys who will need several years to
develop into that position. And assuming Lawrence leaves for the
draft in 2019. That leaves...
Pickney, Williams and Jefferies at DT- IMO that's a huge drop off
in talent from what we've had in the last 2 years.
Like the poster above, I think we need an upgrade in talent at the
position moving forward. But sure the staff will get it done. I think
I am more concerned about O-line than DL. That's the area I think I
would question more than any.

Agreed

But I think Johnson and Davis (if we get him) can provide immediate depth and contribution. Ruke is raw but will be good but I don't underestimate Cash either.

I also think OL recruiting this year won't end up too bad. IF we can get Jakai Moore and then land 1 big fish out of Wright, Webb, Puttnam or Keegan and then add one developmental guy like Dawson, that's not bad. 1 instant impact guy, 2 guys that need a RS year and then can contribute and then a guy that will need 2-3 years to develop. I am high on Moore though and he is a big piece to the puzzle. Big kid, fast, athletic and a 2 sport athlete.... he'll be a good OT if we can get him.

Hearing good things about Jefferies. Little bit of late bloomer but sounds like he gets it!
