As 76er posted today on O.J.'s "site", Frank Howard became FB HC in

Jun 16, 2022, 12:01 PM

1940 and in 1941 he had a good season (7-2-0) and Tigers last home game (vs WF) was on historic Riggs Field since next year Clemson would have a true home football field which was being built in the Valley.

At one time in 1941 season Clemson was ranked as high as #14 but lost to Birds in Cola & to Auburn in AL.

History is a wonderful thing (good or bad) which can be used as a yardstick of hopeful improvement and a shame some newbies & radicals who never made any themselves seem to want to destroy, dismantle or change it as if it didn't ever exist.

Go TiGERS!

Coach Hoawards last year as coach was my Sr year @ Clemson. Loved that man and he could really get us hyped up at pep rallies

1969. My freshman year, 1970, was Hootie Ingram's first year.

Then I was in my fourth year of five in the architecture program at that time and was there!

Hootie was still there my freshman year of 1972.

"I'm Hootin' for Hootie!" was just a totally embarrassing bumper sticker that was going around at the time.

Then, we had Red Parker for the rest of my time at Clemson. Dark times indeed, except for 1974.

They made a special Pepsi bottle for the "Undefeated Home Season" of 6-0 in 1974.

I don't think they made any about our 1-4 road record that year.

:(

Howard's last year was 1969, which was my soph year...

My four years were Howard's last two, and Hootie's first two. Those four years have the worst cumulative record of any four consecutive years in Clemson football history (16-25-1), since 1935. But me and my buddies still attended every home football game!

In the room when he was nominated for head coach, a voice from the back of the room “seconded the nomination.” It was the “Bashful Baron from Barlow Bend himself!

destroy, dismantle or change

I am a huge fan of Frank Howard. His record meant nothing, he was CLEMSON. No would consider replacing him, nor could they.

A fun think I saw is George Washington U is replacing their mascot. Their mascot is 'George Washington'. I swear kids today are just not as bright as kids in the past.

This is what is freaking them out --
