Watching LSU Auburn

Jan 5, 2020, 9:19 AM

LSU=meh. D line is fat and slowwwww. Nix is not good yet and doing ok without good wr's. I think Clemson will be fine.

They might say similar things watching our UNC game. Right now they are rolling.. may not have been clicking on all gears against Auburn just like us against UNC. Only way to find out is to spot the ball.
...

Geez.... 8 more days??

I think OSU is way better than LSU as a whole. Better Def, better scoring offense, better in critical positions minus QB and WR. But if RB isn't as good, OL and DL, then their is a huge difference overall.

LSI is going to be shocked after listening to most of these idiots!

You should look at what LSU did to UGA's defense. They tore it to pieces, and UGA has as good a defense as there is in college football.

Clemson will need to score 40 or more to win this game.

Georgia’s defensive talent is elite

Jan 5, 2020, 10:22 AM [ in reply to Re: Watching LSU Auburn ]

The effort and coaching is spotty.

It was 20-3 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. That’s not exactly tearing it to pieces. A lack of an offense by UGA contributed significantly to those final 17 points.

Right on par with the gamecocks.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

honestly uga;s defense kept them in the game

Jan 5, 2020, 12:17 PM [ in reply to Re: Watching LSU Auburn ]

the fact that there offense could never get anything going gassed them...it was within a few scores 20-3 in the third quarter

Perhaps you are right, but i think Georgia's predictable offense puts a lot more pressure on their defense.

Smitty .... the problem with UGA's defense is that they don't have an offense to compliment it. I think that is the reason our D is so good. We would not be nearly as effective if our offense was pretty much impotent.

UGA is BADLY Coached and Inconsistent...Great Talent

Uga couldn’t move the ball and their defense lived on the field.....

I think OSU definitely had a better defense but I don't know about offense. It was a more complete offense but LSU has lined up most weeks with people knowing what was coming and not being able to stop it.

The big thing might be if Venables is able to slow it down, is LSU capable of making adjustments to get going. I think that most Clemson fans believe whole heartedly in BV and certainly believe that he is capable of making adjustments within the game.

I'm not sure that I draw too much confidence in their "bad" games. But I have a lot of confidence in our coaching staff and don't think LSU will be seeing much that they have seen before and that includes on our film.

I hope that their team is as confident as their fans but I haven't seen it from them. I expect them to be as ready as they can be, but I just think all the little things swing it our way. I hope the next 8 days cause I am ready now.

You should instead watch LSU vs A&M, UGA, and Oklahoma. They are much better right now than they were against Auburn. And if they played Auburn today, they would crush them.

I think Clemson is the only team in college football right now that has the chance to even give LSU a game. But you guys have a habit of starting slow, like you did with UVA and Ohio State. Clemson needs to come out fast, or you will be buried early.

Putting that aside, I think this game almost rates as a toss-up. Clemson has the athletes and coaching to hang with LSU, and beat them. Just don't come out of the gate slow. I might rate LSU a 3-point favorite, as they will have a "home" crowd, and they are peaking lately.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ah, I keep reading and hearing that, but what does

Jan 5, 2020, 10:16 AM

A&M, and UGA have in common?

Statistically, UGA's total offense per game ranks outside the top 50 in the NCAA, and Texas A&M ranks in the mid 60's in total offense. Only Oklahoma's offense out of the three you mentioned rank within the top 10 and they scored 28 points on LSU.

Remember, Clemson held A&M to 3 points until the last 4 seconds of our game. Fisher took 3 timeouts with his first string offense in the game against Clemson's third/fourth string to get that TD.

Clemson held Ohios St. to less than half of their average points scored per game, and Clemson outscored Ohio St. 29-7 from the second quarter to the game's end.

You know we keep getting told the exact same thing!

Jan 5, 2020, 10:52 AM [ in reply to Re: Watching LSU Auburn ]

"Clemson always starts slow. You better not start slow against ___Enter Team___. Otherwise you gonna lose." And we keep proving everyone wrong. I love our chances.

Clemson’s offense didn’t punt until the 2nd half against UVA, not sure what you mean by starting slow in that game

Watching possibly their worst game of the season and

Jan 5, 2020, 10:27 AM

drawing definitive conclusions from it while ignoring their other 13 games is an interesting way to analyze a football team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, here are some facts....

Jan 5, 2020, 12:16 PM

LSU's opponents offensive rankings, points and offensive yards against LSU

Texas, #14 offense, put up 38 points and 530 yards total offense
Vandy #125 offense, put up 38 points and 374 yards total offense
Florida #45 offense, put up 28 points and 457 yards of total offense
Miss St. #71 offense, scored 13 points, and had 340 yards of total offense
Auburn, #65 offense, scored 20 points, and had 287 yards of offense. Terrible QB at Auburn all season, but still only lost by 3 points at Baton Rouge

Bama, #6 offense, scored 41 points, and 541 yards total offense.
Ole Miss, #26 offense, scored 37 points, and had 614 yards of total offense
UGa, #61 offense, 10 points 285 yards of total offense
A&M, #73 offense, 7 points, 169 yards of total offense
Oklahoma, #4 offense, 28 points, and 322 yards of total offense.

So, six teams scored 28 points or more points, with only the #71 and #73 offenses on their Power 5 schedule who failed to score 20 points.

Two of the last three games showing defensive "improvement', were against the #73 and #61 offenses in the country. Again, Oklahoma
scored 28 points in their last game.

LSU's defense ranks #32 in the country, Clemson's defense ranks #2 after the semifinal game.

There are a lot of offensives in the SEC that are either very one dimensional, or just bad.

What's dumb is saying "I just finished watching Clemson - UNC and boy can i tell ya Clemson sucks!"

LSU vs Alabama this year

Both teams will score in the 40s - I just hope we are the winner.

LSU, absent pick 6 etc will score in the 27-33 range***

The game will be won or lost inside the 20, the red zone. If Clemson can bend but not give up TD's like they did against OSU, then even LSU will have a hard time overcoming that.

Three things concern me about LSU, quick to the line of scrimmage not allowing Venerables to make changes , LSU OL does an outstanding job and most worrying are the excellent short slant routes keeping the LB honest and minimizing the blitz with a result of also leading up to the Well placed long ball.

My money is on Venerables to outsmart Brady.
