Va Tech winning the ACC

Mar 14, 2022, 7:50 AM

Puts more pressure on Brownell to get it done sooner. Getting old being a tourney doormat. Only founding member not to win is no fun at all. Don't get me wrong we will almost certainly never gonna be a basketball school but we need to get better at tournament play

Its easy. The AD needs to break the bank on a top tier coach and a basketball facility. The fans need to group fund an NIL. With those two things we should be able to compete. And yes VT has a basketball facility plus a senior laden team who peaked at the right time.

Hmmm, they must have built it overnight then. That dump they have was built in the 60's and worse shape than LJ. In fact, they studied and talked to Clemson last year (ish) about what we did at LJ.

Guess a casual fan like yourself does not understand the difference between a basketball office and training facility and a coliseum. Think our football facility and DV are two different things.

There is nothing wrong with our facilities and picking a so called "top tier coach" is about like winning the lottery. Who thought Steve Forbes, ACC Coach of the Year, was a "top tier coach"? Who thought Mike Young was a "top tier coach"?

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Facilities

Are really big. Have you ever been inside the Duke arena???? Scary.

I’m surprised it hasn’t been condemned.

The Blue Devils have done pretty well in spite of this.

It’s ALL about getting the top players and our Tigers have NEVER been able to do this .., regardless of the coach.

Wow, another casual fan who does not know the difference between a basketball facility and an arena where a team plays.

Several years ago CTB told us we needed better facilities to be competitive in football. Moronic fans such as yourself thought he was crazy as DV was a good facility. The thing is the facilities are not what the fans see but what the players see and use every day. If a player goes on a recruiting visit to Duke or VT they will see those schools care about basketball as evidenced by the facilities they have to support the players. At CU not so much. Now if we had a strong basketball history of winning championships or putting players in the league or had a bunch of players in the Pickens County who were D1 recruits it may not matter but we have none of those things.

jstone is a blowhard troll, FOREST. You and I don't necessarily see eye to eye on Brownell's tenure here, and issues of fan and admin support and such, but at least you offer substance to discussions. jstone just rolls off manic ramblings and insults like a blubbering a##hat. Engaging with that clown is like engaging with a bratty and loud 9-year-old. It's a total waste of time and effort.

Link to Clemson's facilities. Maybe not the very very best in the world but I do not see much of a difference between the ones linked for VT and Dukes practice court.

How many years did it take us to win in Chapel Hill? Some things are just slow to change and winning the ACC Tournament will be a top goal until we win it.

There is a difference between getting a hot run and being successful. Glad Young was able to do it. Was Hewitt a successful coach? He had a heck of a run. How about Leiitao?

Remember when Clemson was a 9th seed in the SoCon?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually, I don't remember the SoCon days.***
